If you love Rama you will love it, if not, try it.
Although is an abridgment of Valmiki's text, the translator Ramosh Datta has done a brilliant job in presenting a faithful, flowing, and a well measured line.
My only suggestion would be that in addition to this the reader Sita Ramamurthy, who read very well and dramatically, would also perform the Mahabharata by the same hand, in the same style; about the same length.
Moreover it would have been good to have the introduction and the translators epilogue; also the sumeries at the start of each section.

Found this book difficult to follow
What disappointed you about Ramayana?
Found it hard to follow.
What could Maharishi Valmiki have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
written it in current English rather than the English of shakespearian times.
Which character – as performed by Sita Ramamurthy – was your favourite?
Don't have one.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I liked the rhyming scheme used.
Any additional comments?
I didn't enjoy this book much. Guess I'm not into books where fighting happens. I found it hard to follow and understand which characters were friend and foe.
