Publisher's Summary

From the explosive world of Jason Bourne emerges a new hero.

The most pressing issue on Adam Hayes' mind is planning his son's upcoming fifth birthday party. After years of operating in the world's most dangerous spots for Treadstone, he's ready to call it quits, but the feeling isn't mutual.

Levi Shaw, Treadstone's director, calls Hayes back for one more mission. 'It's a walk in the park. You don't even have to go in with the strike team. I just need you to set up the safe house. You'll be home in time to pick up the birthday cake.'

But nothing is ever easy where Treadstone is concerned. When the mission is blown only Hayes is left alive, and everyone, it seems, is determined to correct that oversight....

Fast-paced and Action-Packed

The third installment in the Treadstone series by Joshua Hood featuring Adam Hayes is yet another fast-paced and nonstop action-packed read. After being persona non Grata for a while, Adam Hayes is back at his ranch near Albuquerque, NM, and preparing to celebrate the 5th birthday of his son along with his wife, Annabelle. He is determined to spend the rest of his life with family and retire from all Treadstone operations. But an operative like Adam Hayes can never be off duty.

Treadstone director, Levi Shaw has one last mission for Hayes and he is assured that this is one of the easiest 48-hour operations without any bloodshed and he could be back in time for his son's birthday party. Hayes has to fly to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and set up a safe house, where a US DIA agent Dallas Carver and a Haitian national are to be safeguarded. They have a flash drive containing a bank's shady and corrupt financial dealings running into millions of dollars and possibly involving a high-ranking official of the CIA. The extraction team would reach the safehouse and exfiltrate all of them back to the US.

Where Adam goes, trouble follows. He is soon convinced that this modest operation is not at all straightforward. Just as the extraction team takes charge at the safe house, they are ambushed by armed assailants with state-of-the-art automatic weapons. To their dismay, Hayes and Dallas discern that her CIA partner is now a rival and is interested in the flash drive as well. But they have no inkling as to who is masterminding this kill team. Hayes, Dallas, and the Haitian are soon hounded by brutal Russian assassins and their escape seems almost impossible. Someone is desperately wanting to protect the contents of the flash drive from reaching the head of the CIA and they will kill anyone who crosses their path.

What follows next is a life-saving sprint from the armed assailants to the rendezvous point with action all along, car chases, gunfights, and vicious armed and unarmed combats that are typical of a Hollywood movie. Hayes is committed to the promise made to his family and son and this keeps him alive. His teachings at Treadstone and the endurance of a killing machine swing the odds in his favor even at a critical juncture even when he uncovers the face of the corrupt mastermind behind the events that transpired during his miraculous escape from Haiti and at his family ranch in New Mexico.

The author's signature is the narration of events, particularly the action sequences detailing the type of firearms being used, the bullet sizes and caliber, and a second by second recount of what ensues in those death defying moments. If you are fan of Jason Bourne series or characters like Scott Harvarth, Ben Hope and Mitch Rapp then this one will not disappoint you. This treadstone series featuring Adam Hayes is on a path of becoming another successful action-packed series and I am already signed on for the next anecdote in the series. Hats off to the author Joshua Hood for such a riveting and enthralling read.
