Publisher's Summary

When forced to choose between safety with the dragon organization Talon and being hunted forever as an outcast, Ember Hill chose to stand with Riley and his band of rogue dragons rather than become an assassin for Talon. She's lost any contact with her twin brother, Dante, a Talon devotee, as well as Garret, the former-enemy soldier who challenged her beliefs about her human side. As Ember and Riley hide and regroup to fight another day, Garret journeys alone to the United Kingdom, birthplace of the ancient and secret Order of St. George, to spy on his former brothers and uncover deadly and shocking secrets that will shake the foundations of dragons and dragon-slayers alike, placing them all in imminent danger as Talon's new order rises.

Way to much teenage angst

I've listen to all three books in the series and I wish I had bothered to write a review on book two. I did love the first in the series but as I made my way through book three, I began to remember how Ember's whining just about drove me up a wall. OK so she's a teenager and that's what teenage girls can be like but it was just about enough for me and I won't be bothered with the next in the series. So I just looked back to see who this book was for and it was for teens - 11 to 13. OK my bad, I should have paid more attention

5 star male narrators, 2 star female

I've been captivated by this saga for the original story idea but I have to say the female narrator had me cringing most of the time. I kind of hate Ember and even had to skip whole chapters of hers so my eyes wouldn't roll straight out of my head. The rest of the story was great, like Garrett's backstory and Riley/Cobalt's POVs, even Dante's stuff intrigued me. I'm invested 3 books into this series now so I guess I'm stuck until it ends but I can't decide if it's just the female narrator that's annoying me or Ember herself. Probably a combination of the two. I'd love to hear more history of dragons on earth since they're supposed to be long-lived to complete the world-building. Hopefully we'll get that in the next books.

Now we're talkin'

Initially I felt that the Talon series was more of a young adult series. Let me assure everyone that it's a good listen for anyone!

SICKER

In this sick installment, the twists & turns were many & much stayed the same. Talon lowered the bar for decency & St. George (The Order) turned out to be a unknowing puppet organization. The Patriarch is a cunning, conniving, crooked coward, Dante continues his stupidity & the Elder Worm shows up with a predictable revelation. The Riley/ Ember/ Garret mess continues. Riley still comes off as weak & ineffectual, almost cowardly (running is always his go to defense even when it comes to defending people who have helped him), Ember is still a whiny tease & Garret remains a honorable, dependable although flawed hero, (Riley in human or dragon form couldn't beat Garrett). The Eastern Dragon made a dramatic appearance & then disappeared. The finale left me pissed.

That Cliff Hanger!!!!

Nooooooooo!!!!!! A book can’t end like that!!!!!!!

The plot is definitely thickening now!!! Again, twists and turns that I didn’t suspect!!!

Great job narrators!

Entertaining

This series IS engaging and does keep you interested in what's going on. However, there's just something missing that prevents this series from being great.

I am confused about one thing. This is a series about dragons. Not were-dragons. Not half-dragon half human. It's dragons who take on human shape to hide. They have NO human inside of them. But the whole love triangle thing is Ember having two sides, a human half and a dragon half. uh, what? She doesn't have a dragon inside her, she IS a dragon. This whole thing would have made sense as a shifter romance, where shifters are partly human. It doesn't make sense that a dragon mimicking human.
