About this listen

Swami Vivekananda, an Indian monk, a philosopher, author, religious teacher and one of the pioneers of socio-religious enlightenment, was born on January 12, 1863. During the course of a short life of 39 years (1863–1902), his achievements were immense. He dedicated his life to the higher call of promoting peace, serving humanity and spreading the philosophy of Hinduism. Credited for introducing the practices of yoga and Vedanta to the west, he was a spiritual and intellectual guide to many seekers.

This audiobook biography of his focuses on his early life, initial enlightenment, notable achievements and the years which he devoted to public activities. During those years, he travelled India and outside, composed many outstanding philosophical works and letters, which are still seen as great literary and spiritual texts. His realisation about the need of an organisational order led to the foundation of Ramakrishna Mission and Math, one of the paramount organisations in modern India.

His teachings and legacy continue to inspire generations while shaping the lives of millions of his followers.
