Confusing, not very satisfying

The narrator is good. The story itself, well.... I like open endings and I certainly don't need everything spelt out. In fact I cherish things which aren't spelt out, and which respect the reader's, listener's or viewer's intelligence. This though, was far too open ended, and was an opportunity lost.
