Publisher's Summary

Explore the full scope of the Enneagram to illuminate your greatest wisdom, become your truest self, and face life’s challenges with fortitude and grace.

“Who am I, really?” It’s such a fundamental question of human existence that entire schools of philosophy, spirituality, and scientific pursuit have been founded to ponder it.

Of these, the Enneagram is one of the most robust and informative tools for investigating some of the deeper layers of the self, yet the full power of it is not always taught. Leading scholar Russ Hudson teaches, “Too often, the Enneagram is viewed as a set of simple personality types that lock us into fixed ideas about ourselves. In reality, it’s a dynamic tool for transformation.”

With The Enneagram: Nine Gateways to Presence, Hudson shares an in-depth audio training on how to use this powerful system the way it was originally intended - as a pathway to deeper self-knowledge and spiritual attunement. Rather than providing a simple explanatory guide to the Enneagram’s nine personality types (such as the achiever, the investigator, or the enthusiast), Hudson offers an in-depth training in the potential of the entire system. And when you understand the Enneagram as a whole, you will discover new avenues to emotional literacy, greater compassion, and the recognition of all life’s inherent gifts.

Here you will learn:

  • Why attachment to a single personality type obscures the full purpose and potential of the Enneagram
  • How to investigate and discern the purpose of lifelong survival strategies
  • Each personality type’s polarities - from passions to virtues, fixations to holy ideas
  • How the Enneagram reveals deeper truths about our interconnectedness
  • What different levels of self-development look like for each personality type
  • How to bring the experience and lessons of presence into everyday life

Including guided meditation sessions tailored for each personality type, The Enneagram is an invitation to think beyond self-made boundaries and gain insight into your ongoing challenges, greatest strengths, and highest path of growth.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Too slow

I love this subject but just couldn’t continue listening to this recording. It seems like Hudson is just speaking extemporaneously, and his thoughts take much too long to share. I think he has valuable thoughts - but they should be delivered in half the time.

This is one of the best enneagram program's I've listened to

Wow... This is so heartfelt, it's really coming from a place of "I know how it feels to be you, let's explore it deeper, some of the things that you usually feel and think and let's see if we can find a sense of home Inside." Russ is really approaching it as someone who knows the types inside & out and helping each one find a sense of belonging within themselves. It's incredible. I'm not saying other works on the enneagram are not good, but I'm saying this is approaching it from a place that I haven't seen any other program approach it from. It's amazing.

Thoughtful, Spiritual, life time of work.

I will listen many times over. I especially appreciate the overall wisdom emphasized by Russ that we have aspects of all 9 types. Being dominantly type 2, I cried through the beautiful truths that I can take to heart. ❤️

Best Transformational E-Teaching

Russ is an expert who shares in a profound articulate easy listening style. This books takes you through the three centers and nine types in a way that supports awakening and compassion. Each chapter includes the important pause. I especially liked how he emphasized the point wisdom in all of us and the important movement in the system. Chapter 11 brought it all together. I Am recommending this book to all my acquaintances, students, friends and family. If you have interest in the Enneagram, this is a must listen.

The Enneagram by Russ Hudson

Russ Hudson has devoted his life to the teachings of the Enneagram and to our universal journey as human and spiritual beings. There is a lot of deeply meaningful material here to digest and if the collective we were to engage our bodies, minds and hearts in this work of conscious awakening the world would indeed be transformed.

Like a well-done lecture

Excellent lecture-like style by the actual expert (and passionate) author rather than a rote reading by a voice actor.
The style of a very clear, well-organized lecture rather than a straight book reading is engaging. Also, good descriptions of the essence of the types for intermediate level students of the enneagram.
More mediations than I would have liked but they can be experienced or skipped over.
Great description of stress points of each time in final 10 minutes.
Would have enjoyed a discussion of the subtypes/instincts, but only mentioned in a few sentences.

Transformational

As a new comer to the Enneagram I was extremely impressed and absorbed by this audiobook. it prompted both a lot of investigation into the subject whilst I listened and some deep diving into my triggers and outlook. I have always been interested in plumbing the depths of my psyche and undertaken years of esoteric training, to find a lot of what I needed to find here. yes I found out through this book I am a 4!

I cannot recommend this audio book enough.

A beautiful exposition of the enneagram

Russ Hudson generously shares his insights and observations from a life-time's experience of working with the enneagram so that his experience can benefit others. He never over-simplifies nor over-complicates, but rather lays out his material in a thoughtful, orderly but also humorous and human way. There are two metaphors that spring to mind - I could call it a feast, or a tapestry - you get the idea - it is a large, cohesive production where the details are beautiful and so is the over-all picture. It is rare for me to get all the way to the end of an audio-book - there have been a few stand-out ones where I have made the whole journey - and this is one of them. Nothing is extraneous. I'm pretty sure I will listen to it again and again.

Informative and relatable

Brilliant resource for anyone wanting to learn more about the Enneagram. Full of information about the 9 types, plus guided meditations, stories, anecdotes and use of humour brings the teaching alive in a very accessible and interesting format. Russ’s kind voice and the gentle humility in his approach kept me coming back to listen to the book right to the end.

Life-changing!

I loved everything about this book especially the embodying practices and the personal, first-person style of each chapter as as a gentle guide and journey into the complicated and confronting world of our identities. I'm so excited about putting an end to my "career" as a 2. The Enneagram work and this incredible book is making the integration of that possible.

Great for advanced Enneagram students

This is a masterclass on what may be called the spiritual dimension of the Enneagram. Russ demonstrates his depth of understanding of each type as an ego structure which when transcended allows us to reach higher states of consciousness.
Many gems inside. Accurately knowing your type (especially if you are the elusive 6 who has mistyped themselves) will take this material to an even deeper level.
