About this listen

In this intriguing business novel, which illustrates state-of-the-art economic theory, Alex Rogo is a UniCo plant manager whose factory and marriage are failing. To revitalize the plant, he follows piecemeal advice from an elusive former college professor who teaches, for example, that reduction in the efficiency of some plant operations may make the entire operation more productive. Alex's attempts to find the path to profitability and to engage his employees in the struggle involve the listener; and thankfully the authors' economic models, including a game with matchsticks and bowls, are easy to understand. Although some characters are as anonymous as the goods manufactured in the factory, others ring true. In addition, the tender story of Alex and his wife's separation and reconciliation makes a touching contrast to the rest of the book. Recommended for anyone with an interest in the state of the American economy.

This book is anyway considered classic. Though this audio book has one of the best performances i have ever experienced. Unique voice for each character, background noise as per environment and background music as per situation. More or less like a movie. Loved it. Though its a shame that the artists are uncredited in the book details.

Great book with awesome recording.

Loved it, kept on expecting more advise and guidance on approach to management issues. Guide for the new age managers to focus on what's actually the goal is for a company; for the manager to actually be leader.

Management start with self management, discipline

1. Excellent book which highlights the common sense approach to problem solving.
2. Full marks to the Story narration by the author.
3. Very well complemented by the Voice-Characterization - A treat to listen.
4. Little lengthy, just rushed through the closing chapters of the book to finish it to complete the book.Somehow felt it is unnecessary drag (or) overdose.
5. "Five Focusing Steps" after 40th chapter could be the chapter to read if you feel like finishing the book and move on.

Achieved its Goal!!! Long Road Though!
