In the course of my immersion reading of this book, the first part of the reading and listening didn't happen easy. The variance in language used for the so-called 'colored people' is no doubt creatively done both in textual and verbal narrations but it takes a while to get used to that dialect (if it is to be called a dialect). However, as one gets used to the flow of the three narrative voices, the reading (or listening or both as the case may be) becomes truly pleasurable. The fictional world weaved by Kathryn Stockett, which has definite connections with the reality, touched me right in the heart ... a must read and must listen for all book lovers.
