Publisher's Summary

From the best-selling author of the Stolen Bride series comes a brand new and exciting family saga!

For fans of Scottish historical romance, the Sutherland Legacy propels you into the Highlands with tales of daring adventure, irresistible heroes, and passion!

Sir Niall Oliphant was betrothed to the Bruce's daughter, Princess Elizabeth, until she declares that his wound in battle has incapacitated him as a man. Because he does not wish to marry the spoiled royal, he is glad to pass her off to his brother Sir Walter. He's more than content to fade into the background with his injuries and remain a bachelor forever. Until he is presented with an offer from the Earl of Sutherland to marry his only daughter, a lass more beautiful than any other, who makes him want to stand up and fight again.

Bella Sutherland, daughter of one of the most powerful earls and Highland chieftains in Scotland, can marry anyone she wants - but she wants no one. When she spies the injured warrior at the Yule festival who has been shunned by the Bruce's own daughter, she makes her choice. What is better than no husband? A husband who cannot truly be husband at all. But she won't be satisfied with letting him languish. If there's one thing she's learned, its not to give up. With them both satisfied that they are gaining a marriage in name only, imagine their surprise when love blossoms and passion ignites?

Wonderful story !

At last ! A book with a “different” story; a handicapped hero, a saucy lass, loving side characters and battles. Well read.... you will love Niall and Bella.

Finally!

A book with not only an amazing story line, but not every other page filled with sex. It leaves the images to the reader.
Thank you!

Great start to the book

The book had a great start and intriguing story at the beginning but about midway through it is like someone else started writing it. It turned unbelievable and boring.

Comforting

The Characters were written well
The female lead wasn’t at all overbearing or snippy
And the male was no wimp
Not a lot of gore and the intimate scenes were done well
Overall there was not tension or ugly heart break , just a nice relaxing tale that brings.a smile

FIRST LOVE

I really enjoyed this story. My favorite part was the beginning when spunky little Bella was taking on all the younger boys wanting to join in on the tournament against the boys. When she wins the tournament only because the young boy who had stuck up for her and made it possible for her to join in on the games by pretending to lose on the tie breaking game. The narrator made the story, with his Scottish accent ,most entertaining. The narrator made me want to listen to the whole series of I believe 5 or 6 books.

Not just another Highlander romance.

This story really surprised me. The hero, Niall, and the heroine, Bella, meet at a tournament when they are children---both of them very talented competitors, and experience a feisty, humorous and touching connection that they never forget even though they go their separate ways, not to meet again until many years later when they are of marriageable age. But by then Niall, a knight and a nobleman who had such a promising future, has returned home from a war with a missing limb and a broken spirit. He’s completely given up hope and wallowing in alcoholic despair. Meanwhile the independent Bella has been actively resisting her parent’s efforts to arrange a marriage for her and their patience is running out. These two are unique in their independence, their talents, and their compassion and, of course, they meet again and...well, you’ll see what happens. Enjoy.

Fantastic!!!!!

I'm really picky when it comes to 'highlander' romances. I DNF many, many of them. This is up there with my favorite-Maya Banks. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I get really tired of authors writing women who make stupid choices or believe stupid lies. This book has a great heroine who is smart and loyal. I love how she is written. Also, Nial is a great hero! I highly recommend this book. I'm getting the next in the series. Anthony Ferguson does a great job narrating. I love his Scottish accent.

Women's "voices" are horrible!

The women's voices sound like drunk harpies which is very distracting! I don't think I'll be listening to anymore of this series.
