About this listen

To rescue her friend from a loveless marriage, a daring woman dons a disguise and finds herself captivated by a mysterious rake in this "perfect Regency romance" from award-winning author Anne Gracie.

In three years on the marriage market, Grace Merridew has never met a man whose kiss stirred her senses. So she makes plans for a life of adventure instead - to see the moon rise over the pyramids of Egypt and dance amid the marble ruins of Greece. But first she must help a friend in need....

Timid Melly Pettifer is being forced to marry Dominic Wolfe, who stands to inherit a huge estate if he weds. The Wolfes have a terrible reputation, and if there's one thing Grace cannot stand, it's a bully. When Melly begs for assistance in escaping her impending nuptials, Grace acts as the plain and mousy chaperone on their visit to the groom-to-be. But when they arrive nothing is as they expect, and Grace is scandalized to find herself being pursued by a big bad Wolfe....

Contains mature themes.

Rating: 3.5/5

What starts as a brave mission to save her friend from a notorious rogue soon traps Grace Merridew in a scandalous game of desire with the very Wolfe she came to defy.

I did enjoy this audiobook, but The Perfect Kiss ended up being my least favorite in the Merridew Sisters series. Not because it was lacking altogether—but in comparison to the other three, something didn’t quite click.

Grace was a standout. She’s fierce, clever, and easy to root for. But Dominic Wolfe just didn’t shine as much as the other heroes in the series. (Gideon still owns my heart, no contest.)

What Anne Gracie does brilliantly throughout this series is give each book its own flavor and setting. The old, majestic (and slightly eerie) Wolfe estate in this one had its own charm, as did the village surrounding it. It helped keep the story fresh.

And of course, the chemistry—absolutely sizzling. That’s been a consistent strength across the entire series, and Grace and Dominic were no exception.

While it didn’t become a new favorite, this was still a solid, enjoyable listen. The Merridew Sisters series overall has been such a lovely journey—romantic, warm, and delightfully immersive.

I think the whole setup and scenery
