About this listen

"Mrs. Cass, we were hoping your son could answer a few questions about the girl who disappeared last night...."

Erika Cass has a perfect family and a perfect life. Until the evening when two detectives show up at her front door.

A high school girl has vanished from Erika's quiet suburban neighborhood. The police suspect the worst - murder. And Erika's teenage son, Liam, was the last person to see the girl alive.

Erika has always sensed something dark and disturbed in her seemingly perfect older child. She wants to believe he's innocent, but as the evidence mounts, she can't deny the truth - Liam may have done the unthinkable.

Now she must ask herself: How far will she go to protect her son?

So to say, I've recently discovered how great audiobooks are, as I can do multiple works all the while I am on track with my Reading. So i decided to explore audible, and while exploring I found this book. The description was great and I just dived into it.
The story and the mystery is very good. The suspense element was well built, and we are led to belive something till the end, and when we get to know that the author has been planning something great and different altogether, you will find your mind just blown away in the last few chapters. And I am dying to mention here, that somehow for me the last chapter sounded somewhat like the initial chapters, where the father entered and the end was like the son was taking over the role of his father. If I speak more I would be giving out the plot and ending up ruining up the story so im just going to shut myself up here.
The emotions like fear, anxiety, love, confusion, and all other were so well described, that i could feel each of those as my own.
If this would have been a physical copy, I would have just skip read faster so that I coukd get to the end, but as this was an audiobook I had to wait patiently, and my patience was taking a total toll here.

Coming to my rating : out of 5 stars
Title : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ intersting title and also slightly deceptive. I would say that it was an intelligent choice for the title.
Cover :⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the cover is beautiful, attractive and elusive too, giving just the right amount of suspense for someone to pick the book on a whim
Character development :⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ i really did love all the characters, their interpersonal relationships, and also how they developed throughout the book. I did love how each character had their own personality, and remained in their own element but somehow became a bit better by the end.
Writing style :⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I did love the descriptions in the book, and the mystery and suspense. The plot twist and also how it was so easy for me to imagine each and every scene in my own imaginative mind.
Originality : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the plot is a bit usual one, but i did like how the author has added so many suspense and twists, so at the end when I did close the book, I literally had a feeling of reading something new, with a good amount of chills all over.
Plot :⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ a good plot with thr night amount of suspense emotions drama and twists.
Overall :⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ so I am giving a Overall of 4.5 stars. I am definitely going to add this author to one of my favourite lists, and so I am looking forward to reading other books by the author.

Audio rating : out of 5 🎶
Narration Quality :🎶🎶🎶🎶 I did love the voice of the narrator, the way the emotions were poured out through her voice.
Pacing :🎶🎶🎶 the Pacing is overall good, but when you are reading a good mystery, you always tend to feel the pace a bit slow, hern you are desperate to know what is going to happen next.
Production Quality :🎶🎶🎶 good
Engagement : 🎶🎶🎶🎶 I was too engaged into the book, and this credit, I can't only be giving to the author, as the words of the author were very well expressed by the narrator
Overall Enjoyment : 🎶🎶🎶🎶 I always enjoy a good mystery- thriller book.

The plot was predictable nothing surprising, but it had me hook with the storyline. It's not the best from the author though.

Narration was good and gripping

A book with twists and turns is not new for Freida. Good Story, I like that it’s open ended

Freida does it again

Well, this one was mostly predictable. I saw the main plot twist coming (and tbh, there weren't any other twists besides that) from like 20 to 25 chapters before. So there weren’t any “damn!” moments this time. The writing felt cheesy at multiple points, but that’s just something I expect from her books. I don’t read Freida’s books for great stories or memorable writing/lines, but just to have fun and chill with a quick thriller that gives you that “damn, where did that come from?” kind of vibe. But this one didn’t really give me any of that, so here goes nothing. Still, I’ll admit I finished the book quickly, it didn’t feel like a slog at any point, and it was a decent time-pass read, but that’s just it.

Predictable, But Still a decent timepass read.
