Publisher's Summary

This is the original 1927 story of The Tower Treasure: The Hardy Boys Book 1. Frank and Joe Hardy, brothers who are high school students, use their investigation skills to solve the mystery of the stolen treasure from the eccentric Applegates. After finally finding out who did it, the dying criminal confesses that the loot had been hidden “in the old tower.” The tower is searched in vain, but it remained for the Hardy boys to make an astonishing discovery that cleared up the mystery.

Much has changed in America since 1927. The modern reader may be delighted with the warmth and innocence of the characters, but uncomfortable with the racial, social, and sexist terms and stereotypes. As such, this book is a part of our heritage, a window into our real past.

So refreshing!

I'm too young to have read this original 1927 text. This is so much better than the revised edition I read in the 1980s. I can't wait for the rest of the series!

Ok

Love the story. So glad they made audiobooks of the original text. Just really disappointed in the narrator. Did not like his voice at all.

Does not match the book

Buy audible books to allow son to listen as he reads. It is like reading two different versions

Terrible Narration The Original Book Is Terrible

The narration was terrible. If this was the original story I really dislike it. I prefer the updated books. They are much better. Hope the updated books are recorded with a different narrator.

I'm sure the story is great but Narrator SUCKS!

Gave it a chance... just can't do it... Narrator is completely terrible compared to the other Hardy Boy books by this Author...

Please recast narrator!
