He applies the wounds to the contemporary Church and to the suffering of the people of God and our culture as a whole. Another wound to Christ's body is the betrayal of truth that permeates almost every aspect of our culture. Promiscuity, abortion, violence, and injustice are either trivialized or proclaimed as good. Perhaps, the most heartbreaking abandonment of truth has taken place within the Church where there is a colossal ignorance of the Gospel. The people of God need to be equipped with the truth so that they can combat error.
