Was zunächst nach einer simplen Beziehungstat aussieht, entpuppt sich schnell als mysteriöser Mordfall, denn Hauptkommissarin Amaryllis Winter stößt auf immer mehr Ungereimtheiten in der Aussage der Täterin. Diese besteht jedoch beharrlich auf ihrer Version der Ereignisse. Als ein weiterer Mord geschieht wird klar, dass es noch zahlreiche weitere Opfer gibt – und noch sind nicht alle von ihnen tot.
