Publisher's Summary
Nothing in her privileged Eastern upbringing has prepared Elizabeth for the challenges of frontier life....
Elizabeth Thatcher is young, pretty, cultured, and educated. But when she journeys west to teach school in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, she's completely unprepared for the conditions she encounters. Still, she's determined to succeed at the formidable task of fitting in with the locals and shaping the hearts and minds of the schoolchildren in her care. She's just as determined not to give her heart to any of the local frontiersmen. Until she meets Wynn Delaney, a member the Royal Canadian Mounted Police....

Fun
Great story. Loved to feel the emotions of the first pioneers. They are strong people. Even though it is fiction it feels very real.

sweet story
The narrator was amazing! As a teacher, I really liked this story. It did a good job of showing how teachers really do get attached to their students and really care for them. I would say half of the story was about her as a teacher in the Backwoods and the other half (I actually started to wonder if there was a love story until more towards the end) was a sweet love story between her and a mountie... just a good old fashioned love story.

Easy listen but eventually predictable
Fairly predictable love story, I was eventually waiting for it to end. But nice simple story line.

Love this series!
This is my fourth or fifth read/listen to this series (over the last 30ish years)! I just adore these books from Janette Oke and have done since my teens. This is a great introduction to Elizabeth and how she adapts to this new life!

Excellent!
I had to write a review to compliment the narration and story telling by Nancy Peterson. She is exceptional and really brings the story to life. A transportive experience for those wanting something that is easy to listen to and warms the heart.

enjoyable
I enjoyed it, a bit much religion but it was for the time.
The hallmark series is more modern and does this story justice.
