Publisher's Summary

Nowhere is safe when the gods are wicked.

Since the beginning of times, there has always been two sides: Norms and Idols. But never have the scales been so unbalanced as they are today.

I'm a Norm, which means I grew up in fear of the Idols and their godly powers. And now, I'm going to be surrounded by them, day and night. I've been offered a place at the prestigious Gifted Academy, an opportunity very few Norms get.

To survive, I must become invisible. But my hope to get through the academy unscathed goes down the drain when the most powerful boys in school set their eyes on me.

They hate me simply because I'm a Norm. If they knew who I truly am, they'd tear me apart limb by limb. But I'm done cowering away from Idols. It's time for the Norms to fight back, and it all starts with me.

Contains mature themes.

Terrible

I don't think this author understands how to write an ending. You have to wrap up at least this books open ended plot lines before writing in a suspenseful cliffhanger that sojourns into the continuation of the story in the next book. This just felt like I was cheated out of a story I paid for. Besides that, the dialogue was simple and boring. The story has a decent premise that will keep you interested enough to keep going. But there's really not very much angst happening between the main characters...you kinda just end up hating them all.
Their pull to each other doesn't make sense. As far as the narration goes...both actors had lackluster performances that didn't carry the right inflection. I also found the man's accent to be very "valley" and borderline obnoxious. There was no distinguishing between any of the Male leads in tone so you get confused about who is even speaking. Not moving forward in the series.

Worst male narrator on Audible

Please look up the video, "BurgerKing Foot Lettuce" and you will understand how absolutely awful this narrator is. I'm hoping he doesn't get paid for such a god awful preformance.

Male narrator ruined this for me :(

I tried sooooo hard to finish this series but the male narrator just ruined it for me. the female was good. He sounded like a pothead the entire time and I couldn't tell when he switched between male leads at all. I am sure that is challenging but when they have a conversation in the book I had no idea who was talking. The story was pretty good but even when I tried to switch to kindle I heard the voice in my head and it kind of ruined it for me. I hate leaving anything but amazing reviews but felt it should be shared. If you are considering this book, just read it.

IN LOVE

I loved this book and half way through I HAD to make sure there was a second one because there is no way I’m wanting this to end!
I LOVE the narrators, they brought the characters alive. I totally liked the male voice! They both did a great job!

Interesting Storyline

I enjoyed the story but hated the male narrator’s voice. Almost made me stop listening and give up on the book. His voice did not give justice to the characters.

story is wonderful, narrators not so much

strong female mc, diverse and interesting boys, beautiful world creation. still enjoyable on reread, I think this is my third time :)

only complaint is the male narrator does the boys no justice and is atrocious at female voices. the two narrators present characters in ways that do not match.

worst male narrator

the storyline and writing seemed promising and the female narrator was good. I finally had to abandon the book, however, due to the grating voice of the male narrator. the inflections in his voice and reading style made it impossible to continue

Very good book and audiobook

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I purchased the kindle version and the audio version so that I could listen when I couldn’t read, and read when I couldn’t listen. Michelle Hercules is an excellent writer and I can’t wait to read more of her books. I simply couldn’t put this one down. It took some time for me to get used to Alex Kydd’s reading style as it is a bit strange and offputting but I really enjoyed Madeleine Dauer’s performance. Overall I definitely recommend everyone read or listen to this series because you will really enjoy it!

GREAT READ

This is an awesome book. I loved it! I will be looking forward to reading the next book or, in my case, listening to it as I listened to the audiobook version of this book. The romance in this book is actually really cute to watch as the boys begin to feel things they never have before, and Daisy has to learn to trust those around her that aren't norms. This is definitely a book I don't regret reading and would definitely recommend to those who like this genre. I loved this book!

Read the book

the story itself was great however the male narrator did not do this story justice and in parts was just cringe worthy. the female narrator was amazing and kind of made up for any failings.

***A brilliant bully romance***

Wow being a norm is dangerous around powerful idols and fringes, norm usually cower in the presents of power idols but not Daisy she is a norm and do not fear them. This is a unique and refreshing spin on this story. Fast paced and have lots of angst and dramas. It took me a few chapters to get used to Alex Kydd's voice but I loved it in the end Madeleine Dauer is brilliant as Daisy and not so bad as the boys either.
