The pink ribbon can't hold the whole story. So we're talking about the ISH that usually gets left out.

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I'm sitting down with Kia Riggins, breast cancer survivor and creator of Nature's Reign, for a conversation that goes far beyond awareness campaigns and inspirational slogans.

We're talking about the moment everything changes. The diagnosis. The fear. The chemotherapy chair. The physical changes nobody prepares you for. From hair loss and neuropathy to mastectomy decisions, reconstruction, sexuality, relationships, and the pressure to be strong when you're exhausted and scared.

But what happens AFTER treatment? When everyone else is ready to celebrate, and you're still figuring out who you are, what your body has been through, and what life looks like moving forward?

Kia shares how fitness, community, faith in herself, and her determination to "fight the good fight" helped her navigate the journey. We also get into friendships, boundaries, rebuilding her business, and why advocating for your health matters.

I didn't invite a medical expert to tell Kia's story. I invited the woman who actually lived it.

September is where a lot of goals start to slip, not because we’re incapable, but because we’re distracted, tired, and running on old patterns. So we hit pause and do something simple but powerful: we withdraw, we get present, and we exhale with purpose. I pull from the yoga idea of pratyahara (withdrawal) to show how stepping back from the noise calms the nervous system and makes it easier to see what’s actually happening in your life, your wellness, and your work.

Then we go straight at the trendy line we’ve all heard: “I’m building my own table.” My question is, how is your table? What’s on it, who’s sitting at it, and does it hold the weight of what you say you want? If you’ve been posting, planning, or talking for years but nothing is moving, this is the reset. You don’t need another degree, another book, or another scare to wake you up. You need clarity, structure, and the courage to build with what you already have.

I break it down into five bones every solid table needs: vision (the real why), blueprint (the plan and the timeline), foundation (values, boundaries, consistency), tools (skills and life experience you’re underusing), and inspection and maintenance (adjusting without calling it failure). We also talk about forgiveness as a real part of the blueprint and why “motivation” can’t be the foundation. Some wins feel unreal until you say them out loud: a Fox 5 appearance, celebrating another year of 2D Fit, launching a Yoga Alliance recognized school, and watching a community continue to grow. I'm riding that wave of gratitude and momentum while sharing what's been happening behind the scenes and why "blessed and busy" fits this season of my life better than anything trending online. I also take a moment to thank you because seeing 3,203 downloads reminded me that this podcast has reached farther than I ever imagined.

Then the conversation takes a turn.

In a few days, I'll turn 52. While I still feel fierce, I'm also learning to navigate the changes that come with this season of life, including a few surprises I wasn't expecting. As I reflect on another birthday, I'm reminded that some milestones bring gratitude, some bring perspective, and some remind us of what's missing.

We talk about lupus in plain language, the reality of invisible illness, friendship, loss, and how grief can sometimes show up years later when life shifts and seasons change.

This is one of the most personal episodes I've recorded. I hope it makes you reflect on the people, moments, and memories that matter most.

Ever catch yourself saying “I’m tired” before you’ve even finished your morning coffee? Guess what — that’s an affirmation. Not the cute kind either.

Words are spells. Whether you light sage or not, you’re either casting for yourself or cursing yourself. And while everybody’s busy slapping pastel affirmations on mirrors, most of us are running negative scripts with way more conviction: “I’m broke.” “This job is killing me.” “I can’t keep up.”

This raw conversation breaks down how those throwaway lines become your soundtrack — spiking your stress hormone (cortisol), wrecking your sleep, even messing with your focus and body. Pair that with layoffs, social media comparison, and the weight of the world right now? No wonder everybody’s exhausted.

But here’s the truth: you don’t need more empty affirmations. You need alignment. In this episode, I give you a 3-step shift: audit the negative phrases you’re chanting, flip one into something you can actually believe, and anchor it with movement so it sticks.

Because if you’re not pouring into yourself, the world will pour into you. And trust me — the world’s soundtrack is heavy.

So yeah… fu** your empty affirmations. But hell yes to the ones you choose on purpose, the ones that move different, the ones that actually back you up.
