Episode #202: Back into Balance, Naturally with Samantha Williams

"Our bodies have a huge capacity for self-healing—especially when we stop fighting our own hardware."

In this episode, I sit down with Registered Nutritionist and former science teacher Samantha Williams. Samantha’s journey is a powerful testament to the intersection of ancestral wisdom and modern science. After 20 years of battling an eating disorder and hormonal imbalances, she found her "reset" not in a pharmacy, but through the ancient lens of Ayurveda and plant-based nutrition.

We dive deep into how she brought her body back online in just two weeks and how she now helps others awaken their own healing potential.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • The Competitive Swimmer Connection: How our shared history in the pool shaped our early views on performance and body image.
    • The "Secret Campaign" of 90s Diet Culture: Unpacking the toxic programming our generation inherited and how to finally hit "uninstall."
    • Ayurveda & The 3 Doshas: A beginner’s guide to understanding your unique constitution and why "one-size-fits-all" nutrition is a myth.
    • Food as Medicine: Transitioning from ultra-processed noise to high-vibrational, whole plant-based foods.
    • Metabolic Awakening: How Samantha used detox, fasting, and mindset shifts to heal her hormones and metabolism after decades of struggle.

    About Our Guest: Samantha Williams

Samantha is a Registered Nutritionist (MSc) and the founder of Natural Nutrition. After a 15-year career in science education, she pivoted to follow her passion for holistic healing. Having worked at world-renowned detox centers in Thailand, she now leads "The Health Awakening," a program designed to empower people to reverse metabolic syndrome and sustain health for life using science, reiki, and meditation.

    Oct 21 2025

Show Notes for Episode 200: Readiness "Heart to Heart" with Remona Allyouneed.

    Watch it here

I have known Remona since 2023 when we met a a job fair. She knew that I didn't belong there, but we locked eyes across the room, and we were destined to meet. Two years later, we have been working together on Sonya Janisse, a Wellness Company, and Remona has learned so much about herself while going on this journey towards happiness.

There is magic is learning something new about ourselves, and it has taken many years for Remona to learn how to shed her negative thoughts, energy, and habits from her life. She is a work in progress. If she could give any advice to the audience today, it would be to keep working on yourself. There is no limit to what we can achieve, but if we don't try, we'll never know.

Remona has worked through my Design Your Life, Your Way Guidebook, and I am very curious to learn what she gained from those 30 days of soul-searching questions I asked her. She admits that it was a lot of work, and some days might have gotten skipped, but now that she has completed it, how has it changed her life, and what words of wisdom would she offer to someone considering making a change in their life today.

Today, for my milestone Episode #200!!!, I would like to welcome my guest, Remona Johnson, who has lived quite the journey as an immigrant from England, via India, growing up in rural Saskatchewan, and learning that small town life isn't so bad, but the city can have its perks, too. She went from high school in Saskatoon to the University of Waterloo, where she developed into a young adult as an electrical engineer. Today, she has moved away from her technical career as she helps me with the administrative side of things, while she looks for work in the healthcare field as a customer service or patient representative. She has a husband of 11 years and a 10-year-old son, and the past two years have put her on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and reinvention.

I have loved getting to know Remona throughout this journey as I have learned so much about her and her family, and what she values most. I look forward to seeing where she is at these days, as we haven't been able to connect much since her busy summer, and we have a special treat for you today because, for my 200th episode, Remona has agreed to go on a live coaching call with me. So let's lean in, cozy up, and get ready to listen to some real-life coaching!

Throughout this episode, we unpack: readiness, staying in the past vs forward, the feelings of vulnerability, and what it feels like to "shake off your Spiderweb"

At the end of the day, Remona has a goal of feeling like she is on a mountain, "meditating and levitating."

Thank you, Remona, for being on our show.

And for sharing such an impactful story.xx

Episode Title: Stop Dimming Your Light, How to Brighten Your Light – The ND Edition (Gen X Women)

☕ Episode Summary: Your Light Is Not Broken

Are you a neurodivergent Gen X woman who feels utterly exhausted from constantly "performing normal"? Do you spend more energy masking than actually achieving? This episode is for the high-achieving woman who has spent decades using a dimmer switch on her own brilliance just to fit in.

Join host, Sonya Janisse, for a candid, coffee-side chat where we dive into why masking is dimming your potential and, more importantly, we give you three neuro-friendly, practical actions to start turning that light back up—without burning out. Your success doesn't lie in how well you mimic others; it lies in how fully you embrace yourself.

💡 Key Takeaways: The Brightness Blueprint

We covered three common traps that lead to dimming and three essential actions to take.

The Three Traps of Dimming (The Shadow Work):

The Burden of the Mask: The pure exhaustion of constantly performing "normal" for the neurotypical world, draining energy that could be used for brilliance.

Fear of Rejection: The generational trauma of being excluded or criticized for being "too much," which keeps us small.

Internalized Ableism: The inner critic that tells you your unique wiring is a flaw that needs to be "fixed" before you deserve to shine.

The Three Actions to Brighten Your Light (The Switch Flip):

Identify Your 10% Unmasking Space: Choose one low-stakes environment (a friend, your home office) where you commit to dropping your mask by just 10% to conserve energy.

Systemize the Stuff That Dims You: Externalize the administrative burden (keys, emails, bills) using tools, routines, and tech, freeing your brilliant brain for deep work. Your brain is not a good filing cabinet!

Declare Your Needs, Not Your Diagnosis: Advocate for your optimal working conditions by stating the need (e.g., "I need written communication for key items") instead of justifying it with a diagnosis.

📢 Call to Action: Unmask 10% This Week!

I want to see you shine! This week, choose one element of yourself you usually hide, and commit to unmasking it by 10% in your chosen safe space.

Show Notes for Episode 198: Not Good EnoughFlipping the Script: Confidence, Anxiety, and Core BeliefsThis week, I had a heartfelt and powerful conversation with the incredible Sabrina Trobak. We dug into a topic that so many of us grapple with: the impact of our deepest core beliefs on our mental and physical well-being.Have you ever felt like you're not good enough, not important, or not valued? Sabrina explains how past trauma can plant these beliefs, which then become the root of so much anxiety, self-doubt, and even anger. To cope, we often turn to unhealthy strategies like suppressing our emotions or staying perpetually busy. This episode really hit home for me, and one of the biggest questions we tackle is: What are you getting out of living in chaos? Sabrina and I explore how a life full of busyness and distraction can become a convenient way to avoid facing what's really going on inside. We also got really real about how weight can sometimes become a shield. We challenged ourselves to ask: Why are you hiding behind your weight? What is the benefit? It’s a powerful question that can lead to some eye-opening insights. My biggest takeaway from this conversation was that anxiety is actually a reflection of what you believe about yourself. If confidence is the sun, then anxiety is the shade.Sabrina beautifully connects our emotions to our biology, explaining how hormones like serotonin and cravings for sugar, fat, and starches all play a role. She gently reminds us that while "simple is not easy," learning to feel your emotions is the first step toward healing.Get ready for an episode full of laughter, deep truths, and a few amazing takeaways you won’t want to miss.Find the episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/8S9GQ2UHwbkLet's learn a little about Sabrina.Sabrina Trobak, based in Fort St. John, BC, Canada, is a registered clinical counsellor and the author of "Not Good Enough: Understanding Your Core Belief and Anxiety." Instead of solely relying on her medical team, who told her I had less than a 1% chance of getting pregnant, She took control of the factors within her reach, believing that her body was not broken. She actively participated in her healthcare journey, delving into her medical testing, improving her diet, and seeking mental and physical healing opportunities. The incredible results spoke for themselves: not only did she successfully conceive once, but went on to become pregnant three more times. Incredibly all without the help of reproductive medicine. In fact, She conceived my last son 7 years after being told she would need donor eggs. She believes the most exciting part is this approach isn't unique to her. By addressing root causes and embracing holistic healing, thousands of women have experienced transformative outcomes. Now, she dedicates herself to supporting women who are navigating their own fertility challenges. Through private coaching and the NurturePath Fertility Solution program, She provides resources, guidance, and encouragement to aid women in reclaiming control over their fertility health.
