About this listen

This Adoption Triad podcast dispels the common myths and misconceptions, and reveals the many blessings and benefits of open adoption. This podcast will make you cry, make you laugh and hopefully lift the stigma that still exists today about adoption! Hosted by former adoption counselor, Jeanne Reisig who will answer questions from her audience, interview special guests including experts in the industry and families who have been touched by adoption. It’s time to paint a broader, more detailed image of adoption. This podcast is intended to heighten awareness for all members of the adoption triad: birth parents, adoptees, and adoptive parents. Additionally, it’s intended to benefit adoption professionals, siblings(adoptive and birth), members of the general public, and state legislators who address adoption statutes. It is Jeanne’s hope to eliminate stereotypes that are held about birth parents, adoptees, and adoption by laymen and professionals in the field who still hold some of the old beliefs that fear, mystery, and secrecy are the best course for adoption.Copyright 2022 All rights reserved. • Grief and Loss with Adoption
    Feb 20 2023

I want to get across that adoption is really based on grief and loss. I know that is quite a statement and might sound discouraging, but it is true and in this podcast I will talk a lot about this topic. I will explain how whatever is gained by the adoption doesn't cancel the loss experienced by all members of the adoption triad.

  • Talking to Your Kids about Adoption
    Oct 3 2022

Over the years I have talked to a number of adoptive families in our education classes. They always had questions about talking to their kids about their adoption. Especially before open adoption when birth moms and birth families weren’t in the picture. Now, with open adoption the birth mom can be a part of their lives and eventually be able to explain her story directly to the child.

I hope you enjoy this episode.
