Anger Does Not Have to Stand Alone

By the time anger reaches the surface, it may already have been carrying too much. The boundary that was crossed. The truth that was not named. The hurt that was not met. The unfairness that was never repaired. The exhaustion of staying silent. The loneliness of trying to protect yourself from inside your own body.

This final episode begins with the whole angry system.

Anger Does Not Have to Stand Alone is a Sourel for the woman who is ready to turn towards her fire, her protectors, her hurt, her truth and her body with steadiness and sacred care. Not to silence them. Not to remove them. But to let them know they no longer have to protect alone.

This reflection gathers the month together. The fighting part. The resentful part. The justice seeking part. The part that takes charge. The part that goes away inside. The voice that turns back in. Each part has been trying, in its own way, to protect something vulnerable, sacred and worthy within her.

This Sourel does not ask anger to disappear. It offers another possibility. Anger can become a signal, a protector, a messenger, a fire that is respected, but not left to burn alone.

The episode closes with one gentle invitation: think of one recent moment when anger came close and ask what it was trying to protect. Then ask what it might need from you so it does not have to protect alone.

Anger Does Not Have to Stand Alone is the final Sourel in The Fire Within, a September series for women returning anger to its sacred place within the feminine. Across the month, these reflections have followed the fire beneath the surface and the wisdom waiting within it.

When anger rises, something in you is asking not to be abandoned. And perhaps, slowly, you can answer: I am here. I am listening. We do not have to protect alone anymore.

If you find yourself wanting something to return to between these reflections, in the actual moment a pattern like this one takes hold, I also built an app called Settle and Source. It offers a ninety second guided practice for exactly the kind of moment this reflection has been describing, the gap between noticing an urge and knowing what to do with it. It is not a replacement for anything here, simply another door, in case it is the right one for you. https://settleandsource.com
