Hello and welcome to Behind The Pencil, an Artists podcast sharing all the highlights and lowlights of being a self-employed Artist, life behind being a coloured pencil Artist and all the magic that happens behind the scenes, before the pencils actually touches the paper.


I'm Molly Jay, a full time Coloured Pencil Artist and I'm now in my 5th year being self-employed. Being a serial voice-noter day to day and listening to other podcasts helps me massively and I’d love to put my 20p into the world of podcasting as well! I’ll be sharing the behind the scenes of being a self-employed Artist, including the everyday struggles, creative processes and the highs, in the hope it’ll help other Artists’ relate and feel less alone! 🎙✨ Grab your pencil, paint brush, or whatever medium you're working in and join me for an informal chat about Art, life WIPs and everything else behind the pencil.

    A very different episode today! Much shorter and chattier - it's been slightly more chaotic than usual the last 2 weeks and because of the increase in workload I've struggled to sit down and record this weeks episode properly. I thought instead of missing a week I'd quickly hop on and update you all on what's been happening BTP.
