Doctors couldn't figure out what was happening to Sharon O'Shea's eyesight. They thought it was diabetic retinopathy. But, it wasn't. By the time they figured it out, it was too late. Sharon went blind.

To get through the transition from sight to blindness, Sharon continued to cook. "Cooking made me feel like I wasn't helpless," Sharon says.

To those people who may be losing their sight, Sharon says, "Be gentle with yourself."
