  • Healthy vs. Toxic Cultures (Mental Health Skills)
    Dec 19 2023

a conversation about the balance between sensitivity and personal responsibility in cultural contexts, including both societal culture and the "cultural operating system" within an individual's mind. Key points include:

    1. Sensitivity and Personal Responsibility: The discussion emphasizes that while sensitivity is important, it should be balanced with personal responsibility. The speakers propose a 50-50 balance between the two, suggesting that overvaluing either one can lead to issues in a culture.

    2. Cultural Operating System: This concept refers to the values and beliefs that operate within an individual's mind, similar to a cultural framework.

    3. Impact of Overvaluing Sensitivity: The speakers argue that overemphasizing sensitivity can create "snowflakes," a metaphor for individuals who are overly sensitive. Sensitivity should be about being aware of the audience's needs and adapting accordingly.

    4. Combination of Sensitivity and Responsibility: The conversation suggests that sensitivity and responsibility are not mutually exclusive. A healthy culture is achieved when both are present and balanced.

    5. Psychological Immune System: This idea relates to the necessity of exposure to diverse experiences and challenges. An environment that is overly accommodating and shields individuals from any discomfort or challenge can weaken their ability to navigate and adapt to various situations, akin to having no immune system.

    6. Definition of 'Snowflakes': In this context, 'snowflakes' are described metaphorically as people who are extremely sensitive and unable to handle different perspectives or challenging situations. The term is used to highlight the importance of developing resilience and adaptability.

Overall, the discussion revolves around the idea that fostering a culture that balances sensitivity with personal responsibility leads to a more robust, adaptable, and healthy societal and individual mindset.

  • Exploring Psychedelic Spaceholding with Tara Portelli
    Apr 8 2023

In this episode, we are joined by Tara from Arcadia Healing Sanctum. Tara shares her personal journey of transitioning from a paramedic to facilitating a space for individuals to undergo life-changing experiences with psilocybin.

Her experience with psilocybin began while on a self-healing journey in Tulum, Mexico. As a former paramedic who suffered from PTSD, anxiety, and depression, she found deep relief and a newfound sense of peace after her first full dose. With a background in psychology, cultural anthropology, paramedicine, and certifications in natural health, nutrition, and clinical hypnosis, Tara now facilitates safe spaces for individuals to undergo their own transformative experiences with psilocybin, drawing on her expertise to help people heal from trauma and connect with their true selves. Tara has also been a part of the team at Therapsil, a non-profit organization advocating for psilocybin therapy for terminal patients, and played a role in achieving legal access to psilocybin for these patients in Canada.

  • Emma Beckerle's recent high dose mushroom trip
    Feb 15 2023

Emma's energy is awesome. She works as a consultant/strategist for small businesses in the cannabis & psychedelic sector that are looking to scale. This session was an absolute treat; super fun; super educational, and frankly, for myself (at the very least) inspiring too. I hope you enjoy it!

    Emma's website: https://www.ABOperformance.com/

    P.S.
Let me know how this was (format wise); I put the whole convo in there, just because I always value the flow; so the beginning, we're talking about how twitter seems to allow for greater authentic connections, then, we transition to her trip experience and what that's brought up for her personally & professionaly.
