• Tilley Bend…The Legend of Elizabeth Bradley
    Oct 14 2026

In the mountains of North Georgia, some family feuds leave behind more than hurt feelings. Along the banks of the Tilley Bend, a story has lingered for generations, one involving two families, a bitter dispute, and a woman whose name became tangled in local legend.

This week on Front Porch Mysteries, we’re telling the story of Elizabeth Bradley and the legend of the Tilley Bend Witch. But was Elizabeth really a witch, or was she a woman caught in the middle of a feud that grew into something far stranger with every retelling? As we follow the stories surrounding the Tilley and Stanley families, we’ll explore how an old family conflict became part of the folklore of the North Georgia mountains.

Pull up a chair and settle in, because this is a tale of mountain history, family grudges, and a legend that has refused to fade away.

As always, we’ll share the stories we’ve found, look at what history can tell us, and leave room for the things we may never know for certain.

  • Haunted Roads…Appalachia’s Creepiest Curves
    Sep 30 2026

Some Appalachian roads are beautiful by day and unsettling after dark. In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, Alex and Ashley take a drive through a collection of roads, bridges, tunnels, and mountain routes surrounded by stories of ghosts, unexplained lights, cryptids, tragic deaths, and local legends.

From the disappearing bridges of Seven Bridges Road and the mysterious Brown Mountain Lights to Helen’s Bridge, Mamie Thurman’s tragic story, the Pity Pat, Sensabaugh Tunnel, Lydia’s Bridge, and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, these are the kinds of places where history and folklore have become tangled together.

Alex also shares a personal story from a late-night drive near Clayton, Georgia, and finally returns to one of his favorite Appalachian legends: the red-haired woman said to appear along the Ocoee River Road and, in some versions, show up in your back seat.

So keep your eyes on the road, don't stop where the legends tell you to stop, and pull up a chair for another Front Porch Mystery.

  • Slenderman…Fiction Turned Tragedy
    Sep 23 2026

In 2009, a strange figure appeared on the internet. He was impossibly tall, dressed in a black suit, and had no face.

That figure became known as Slenderman.

What started as a fictional character created for an internet Photoshop contest quickly grew into something much bigger. Creepypasta stories, YouTube series like Marble Hornets, video games, fan theories, and thousands of new stories turned Slenderman into one of the most recognizable fictional monsters of the internet age.

But in 2014, the story took a horrifying turn when two 12-year-old girls in Wisconsin attacked their classmate, believing they needed to become Slenderman's proxies.

In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, we go back to the beginning of Slenderman, talk about how the mythology grew across the early internet, and explore the tragic Wisconsin case that forced people to ask where the line between fiction and reality can disappear.

It's a story about internet folklore, childhood, influence, mental illness, and what can happen when something created as fiction becomes real to someone who believes it.

  • Croatoan…The Lost Colony of Roanoke
    Sep 16 2026

    Croatoan…The Lost Colony of Roanoke

What happened to the Lost Colony of Roanoke?

In 1587, more than 100 English colonists arrived on Roanoke Island in what is now North Carolina, hoping to establish one of England’s first permanent settlements in the New World. But when Governor John White returned three years later, the entire colony had vanished.

There were no bodies. No obvious signs of a battle. No clear explanation for where the men, women, and children had gone.

There was only one haunting clue: the word CROATOAN carved into a wooden post.

Nearly 440 years later, the disappearance of the Roanoke colonists remains one of America’s most famous historical mysteries. Did the colonists relocate to another settlement? Did they join a nearby Indigenous community? Were they killed? Or have we misunderstood the clues left behind at Roanoke Island?

In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, we explore the history of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, the mysterious Croatoan clue, Governor John White’s return to the abandoned settlement, the theories surrounding the missing colonists, and the discoveries that have continued to reshape what we think happened in 1587.

From the first arrival of the colonists to the disappearance that made Roanoke legendary, we’re digging into one of America’s oldest and most enduring mysteries.

Was Roanoke really a mystery… or have we been looking in the wrong place?

Pull up a chair and join us for the story of Croatoan…The Lost Colony of Roanoke.

    Sep 9 2026

    Altamaha-ha…Georgia’s Own River Monster

Deep in the winding waters of Georgia’s Altamaha River, something has been lurking for generations.

Locals have told stories of a strange creature hiding beneath the surface, described as a massive, serpentine animal with a long body, powerful jaws, and a prehistoric appearance. Some call it the Altamaha-ha, Georgia’s very own river monster.

But where did the legend come from? Are the stories simply folklore passed down through generations, or could there actually be something unusual living in one of Georgia’s largest and most mysterious rivers?

In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, Alex and Ashley head into the legend of the Altamaha-ha to explore the sightings, the history, the theories, and the strange stories surrounding Georgia’s most famous aquatic cryptid.

From old encounters along the Altamaha River to modern-day speculation about what might be hiding beneath the water, we’re asking the question:

What exactly is swimming through the Altamaha?

Pull up a chair, stay awhile, and let’s go looking for Georgia’s own river monster.

  • Antarctica…What Do the Penguins Know?
    Sep 2 2026

What if one of the most mysterious places on Earth isn't hidden in a jungle or at the bottom of the ocean, but beneath two miles of Antarctic ice?

Antarctica is the coldest, driest, windiest, and one of the least explored places on our planet. It is a continent with no permanent residents, vast areas that remain virtually untouched, mountains and lakes hidden beneath the ice, and long periods of complete darkness. And because so little of Antarctica can be experienced firsthand, it has become the perfect blank canvas for some truly wild theories.

In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, Alex and Ashley pull up a chair and head to the bottom of the world to explore some of the strangest mysteries and conspiracy theories surrounding Antarctica.

We start with the facts: the history of Antarctica, the Antarctic Treaty, the restrictions surrounding the continent, and the real discoveries that make Antarctica fascinating all on their own. Then things start getting a little more mysterious.

We dive into Operation Highjump, the massive U.S. Navy expedition led by Admiral Richard Byrd after World War II, and the theories that claim the expedition encountered something it wasn't supposed to find. We also explore the infamous alleged Byrd diary and its connection to Hollow Earth theories, including stories of hidden worlds, advanced civilizations, prehistoric animals, and mysterious beings beneath the Antarctic ice.

Then there's Nazi Germany's Antarctic expedition and the legend of Base 211, a supposed underground facility where Nazi officials allegedly continued their work after World War II. From there, we go even deeper, looking at the real lakes and mountain ranges hidden beneath Antarctica and the conspiracy theories that claim they could be evidence of ancient civilizations or massive underground cities.

And if that isn't strange enough, we'll take a look at the mysterious Antarctic pyramids, the infamous ice wall theory, supposed extraterrestrial bases beneath the ice, and the centuries-old Piri Reis map, which some believe may depict Antarctica before its official discovery.

But where does fact end and conspiracy begin?

Throughout the episode, we're not here to tell you what to believe. We're here to look at the facts, examine the theories, and explore why these stories have captured people's imaginations for so long.

Because Antarctica may simply be a frozen wilderness at the bottom of the world.

Or maybe the real mystery isn't what we know about Antarctica...

It's what we haven't discovered yet.

Grab your coffee, pull up a chair, and join us on the porch for Antarctica...What Do the Penguins Know?
