    Episode Overview

In this episode of the Get Trauma Informed Podcast, we take a deeper look at why setting boundaries can feel uncomfortable, heavy, and even wrong.

What if the guilt you feel is not a sign that you are doing something wrong… but a sign that something is changing?

This conversation reframes guilt as a natural part of trauma recovery and personal growth, especially when you begin choosing yourself in ways you never have before.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

    • Why guilt often shows up when you begin setting boundaries
    • How past conditioning shapes your emotional responses
    • The connection between people-pleasing and safety
    • Why guilt is not an indicator of wrongdoing
    • How to reframe guilt as a sign of growth
    • A simple question to help you navigate emotional discomfort

    Key Insight:

Guilt is not always a warning sign.
Sometimes, it is a signal that you are doing something unfamiliar… and necessary.

    Reflection Question:

    When guilt arises, ask yourself:
“Am I doing something wrong, or something unfamiliar?”

    Spiritual Reflection:

    Galatians 1:10 reminds us:
Are we seeking approval from people… or alignment with truth?

This shift allows us to move from people-pleasing into purpose-driven decisions.

  • When Your Identity Was Formed in Survival | Trauma Recovery with Coach Liz
    Apr 14 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

    Episode Summary:

In this episode of the Get Trauma Informed Podcast, Coach Liz explores how many of our adult behaviors were not intentionally chosen but formed through survival.

Patterns like people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, and control often begin as childhood adaptations to unsafe or unpredictable environments. Over time, these patterns can feel like identity.

But recovery invites a different question.

What if that is not who you are?

Through personal reflection and spiritual grounding, this episode introduces the possibility of separating learned survival patterns from true identity. Awareness creates space for choice. And choice opens the door for renewal.

This is not about becoming someone new.
It is about returning to who you were before survival became your identity.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:
    • How childhood survival patterns shape adult identity
    • Why people-pleasing, control, and emotional shutdown are learned responses
    • The difference between survival-based identity and true identity
    • How awareness creates the opportunity for change
    • A spiritual perspective on renewal and identity restoration

    Key Reflection Questions:
    • What patterns in your life feel automatic?
    • Where were these patterns first learned?
    • What becomes possible if you begin to question them?

    Next Steps:
If this message resonates with you, you are invited to continue your journey inside the Oasis Wellness Academy.

This is a structured, supportive environment where we walk through identity, recovery, and leadership one step at a time.

  • Who Am I Without the Trauma? Trauma Recovery with Coach Liz
    Apr 7 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

    🎧 Episode Summary

In this foundational episode of the Get Trauma Informed Podcast, Coach Liz explores one of the most important questions in recovery:

Who am I without the trauma?

Many of us unknowingly build our identity around survival. We become “the strong one,” “the people pleaser,” or “the peacekeeper,” not because that is who we are, but because that is who we needed to be.

This episode gently shifts the focus from what happened to you… to who you are beyond it.

Recovery is not about becoming someone new.
It is about returning to who you were always created to be.

🔑 In This Episode You Will Learn:

    • How trauma shapes identity through survival roles
    • Why survival patterns can feel like your true self
    • The difference between identity and adaptation
    • How recovery begins with awareness, not judgment
    • Why transformation starts with renewing your mind, not forcing change
    • How to begin reconnecting with your true identity

    🧠 Key Concepts Covered

    Survival-Based Identity

When safety is missing, identity forms around protection.

    You may recognize yourself as:

    • The strong one
    • The fixer
    • The caretaker
    • The one who holds everything together

    These roles helped you survive.
But they are not the full truth of who you are.

    Identity Beyond Trauma

    Recovery invites a new question:

“Who am I beyond what happened to me?”

    This is where transformation begins.

    Not through pressure.
    Not through performance.
    But through renewal.

    Romans 12:2 reminds us:
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

    Awareness Is the First Step

    Before change comes awareness.

    Awareness allows you to:

    • Observe your patterns without judgment
    • Recognize what is survival vs identity
    • Create space for something new

    ✨ Reflection Questions

    Ask yourself:

    • Where did I learn to become who I am today?
    • What part of me feels like survival instead of identity?
    • What am I beginning to notice about myself?

There is no judgment in the answer.
    Only information.

  • Your Trauma Recovery Is the Wealth You Carry with Coach Liz
    Mar 24 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

    Episode Overview

Many people think of recovery only as relief from pain. However, trauma recovery produces something much deeper. It produces wisdom, compassion, and understanding that can help others find freedom.

In this episode, Coach Liz explains how recovery becomes a form of wealth. The lessons learned through recovery become valuable guidance that can support others who are walking through similar struggles.

Coach Liz also explains the three stages of trauma recovery and how the final stage activates purpose and responsibility to share the wisdom gained through the recovery journey.

In This Episode You Will Learn

    • Why trauma recovery creates wisdom that can help others
    • The three stages of trauma recovery: Awakening, Application, and Activation
    • How recovery becomes purpose rather than just personal survival
    • Five questions that help reveal your calling
    • The next step for those who feel called to guide others

    The Three Stages of Recovery

Trauma recovery unfolds in three stages.

Awakening is where someone begins understanding their story and recognizing patterns that shaped their life.

Application is where recovery practices begin. Emotional regulation improves, boundaries strengthen, and a healthier identity begins to form.

Activation is where recovery becomes purpose. The wisdom gained through the journey becomes a resource that can help others find direction and hope.

    Activating Your Purpose

Many people sense a calling to help others after recovery begins. These questions can help guide that process.

    • Who is waiting for my story
    • Where has God been tugging at my heart
    • What cycles end with me
    • What wisdom do I now carry that others need
    • How can I offer what I never received

Recovery does not require perfection. It requires responsibility to use the wisdom gained through the journey.

In this episode, Coach Liz explores how trauma recovery often moves beyond personal recovery and becomes an assignment to help others find freedom. The experiences that once caused pain can produce wisdom, compassion, and understanding that guide others who are walking through similar struggles.

    • Why many people stop at healing and never step into their assignment

    • How trauma recovery mentors can guide others safely and responsibly

Trauma recovery often unfolds in three important stages.

    Stage One: Awareness

    Stage Two: Application

    Stage Three: Purpose

    Finding Your Assignment

Many people ask how they discover their calling after trauma recovery.

Often the answer is already hidden within their story.

You may notice that people come to you with certain questions. Others may seek your support because they recognize that you understand their experiences.

Your assignment may be connected to:

    • The people you naturally feel drawn to help
    • The parts of your story others ask about most often
    • The patterns that God helped you overcome
    • The hope your story can provide to someone else

Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 1:4 that we comfort others with the comfort we have received.
