  • Overcoming Anxiety and Killer Bees via Windex with Humoriste Leanne Linsky
    Sep 15 2026

It's post tidal wave in Long Beach, CA and the bees are angry.

Comedienne Leanne Linsky is back on the Show to share her story of overcoming anxiety and killer bees via Windex.

We learned that this likely happened because Leanne stopped eating Count Chocula cereal for breakfast 20 years ago. Take away the routines and look at what happens…bees take residence in your home years later. OCD makes complete sense to me.

The heroes in the story are Bee Busters. So, if you have a bee problem and you're in the Orange County area...give them a call --> BeeBusters.com

  • Mental Illness to Mental Health, One Laugh, One Inspiring Story at a Time with Dave Mowry
    Sep 14 2026

In a nutshell … Dave Mowry is Healing with humor. Transforming lives by teaching Stand-up Comedy to folks living with a mental illness.

He’s a best selling author, mental health blogger, and laugh out loud funny comic.

Dave lived with bipolar disorder, severe anxiety, depression, panic attacks, PTSD, and multiple conditions for decades. In 1996, the manic highs crashed hard, leading to 14 years of deep depression, homelessness, and losing his business, his home, and ultimately his sanity.

In 2010, everything changed when he joined a Stand-up Comedy class for people with mental illness. They say that the more challenges one has in life the more material they have for humor. And, boy, does he have a lot of material. Looking for humor in the darkness and telling his story one joke at a time changed everything. His life was no longer just sadness and loss.

The humor didn’t erase the pain, but it reduced the PTSD flashbacks and helped him reclaim his life. Today he teaches Stand-Up Comedy to other folks with mental illness. And you know what’s amazing and affirming that Dave is right where he’s suppose to be … he sees the same transformation happening with them.

Dave’s new best selling book, Healing with Humor: Mental Illness to Mental Health One Laugh, One Joke, One Inspiring Story at a Time tells the story of five people who have taken his Comedy class.

His first book OMG That's Me! has sold over 22,000 copies. It’s a winner of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, a bestseller on Amazon, and is one of the best bipolar disorder books of all time according to BookDNA.com.

Dave blogs for bphope.com/davemowry where his posts have been read by over a million people with the most common comment being "OMG That's Me! you're telling my story, I don't feel so alone now.”

What does Dave say to folks who are facing hardship right now?
    1. You are not alone!
    2. You do get better!
    3. Don't get stuck. Even just getting outside and breathing in some fresh air will help.
    Bonus ...
    4. Look to do something nice for someone else.

  • Dock Ellis' LSD-Fueled No-No with Kirk McCarley of ESPN
    Sep 10 2026

Our ESPN friend Kirk McCarley is back on the Show to spin some more sports yarn. Today we're talking about the start of College Football and Dock Ellis' LSD-Fueled No-No on June 12, 1970. The Pittsburgh Pirates played the San Diego Padres at San Diego Stadium. The starting pitcher for the Pirates, the mercurial and idiosyncratic Dock Ellis, had forgotten that it was his day to pitch and had taken LSD at around noon in Los Angeles. Shortly afterwards he found out it was in fact his starting day so he was hustled onto a plane and he took the mound at 6pm. The rest is history. Instead of impeding his ability to throw accurate pitches, the psychedelic compound seemed to leave “trails” that actually helped his placement.

Kirk is not only a seasoned Statistician with ESPN, but also an Executive Coach and Author. You'll hear us talk about his book titled, 'Thoughts for My Kids...and Other People's Kids.' It's a great read and almost like you're in the same room with Kirk and he's talking with you.

  • Six Components for an Effective Apology
    Sep 9 2026

Here are Six Components for an Effective Apology.

    1. An expression of regret
    2. An explanation of what went wrong
    3. An acknowledgment of responsibility
    4. A declaration of repentance
    5. An offer of repair
    6. A request for forgiveness

This is in large part from Roy Lewicki - “Trust Expert” and Professor Emeritus of Management and Human Resources at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. This came out of a study where 700 people reacted to apologies that contained from 1 to all 6 of these.

The more components, the more effective.

Two key components - 1. Acknowledgment of responsibility, and 2. Offer of repair

Empathy and timing are vital as well.
