About this listen

Happy Healthy Homes is a podcast for women who are ready to create a calmer home; a space that helps you feel calmer, healthier, and able to focus on what truly matters. If you’re overwhelmed, sensitive to noise or clutter, or constantly feeling “on edge”, this is a place where you’ll feel understood. We stand for homes that support the nervous system, physical health, and mental wellbeing, and we stand firmly against overstimulated spaces that quietly steal your peace.

I get this deeply. I spent most of my life believing I was the problem, too sensitive, too affected by noise, light, and chaotic environments. It wasn’t until I understood how strongly our surroundings affect the nervous system that everything shifted. Sensitivity isn’t a flaw; it’s information. And when our homes don’t support us, our bodies stay in survival mode without us even realising it.

Here, I help women create calm, nurturing spaces that support the nervous system, family wellbeing, and a deeper connection to nature, guided by science, intention, and love. Through simple, science-backed conversations, we explore how design, light, air, colour, rhythm, and non-toxic choices can reduce stress and restore balance. This isn’t about perfect homes, it’s about creating spaces that hold you, so you can live, parent, and work with more ease.

  • Why You Can't Stop Snapping at Your Kids (It's Not a Patience Problem)
    Apr 8 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

You snapped at your kids again today. Over something small. And now you feel terrible.

You keep asking yourself: "Why can't I be more patient? What's wrong with me?"

But here's what most moms don't realise: It's not a patience problem. It's an environmental problem.

Your home has been depleting your emotional capacity all day long, and by the time your kids ask you the same question for the 5th time, you have nothing left.

    In this episode, I explain:

→ Why your home is draining your "battery" before you even get to your kids

→ How hotels preserve your capacity (and why your home doesn't)

→ The ONE "Calm Anchor" space you can create today to stop snapping

→ Why this has nothing to do with willpower — and everything to do with your environment

  • Episode 21: Clutter Is Not a Tidying Problem — It's a Healing Problem

The Psychology of Clutter: How 33 Cubic Meters of Stuff Became a Healing Journey | ft. Sharlene Lindt

In this episode of Happy Healthy Homes, I speak with Sharlene Lindt — business strategist, keynote speaker, and creator of the MindShift process — about the deep connection between clutter, grief, identity, and the nervous system.

Sharlene once lived with 33 cubic meters of possessions across 16 rooms. She was the self-described "queen of the hidden mess." After losing her baby boy in 2011, her home became a physical reflection of everything she hadn't yet processed. Through her journey of grief, alcoholism recovery, and managing OCD and ADHD, she developed the SHiFT framework — a five-step process to clear clutter and reclaim your energy, decisions, and power.

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • Why clutter is "the physical evidence of what we haven't processed"

    • How your home environment directly affects your nervous system and physical health

    • What "attention hooks" are — and why every object in your home occupies brain space

    • The SHiFT process: See the big picture → Hone in on reality → Implement quick wins → Focus on patterns → Take imperfect action

    • The difference between hoarding and "collecting" — and its links to neurodivergence (OCD, ADHD)

    • Why gratitude and self-compassion are the foundations of lasting change

    • How to take imperfect action and start with just one tiny shelf

Whether you're dealing with a cluttered room, a cluttered mind, or a life that feels heavy — this episode will shift how you see your home and yourself.

"You don't clear clutter to tidy your life. You clear clutter to reclaim your energy, your decisions, and your power." — Sharlene Lindt

  • Episode 20: Microplastics, Endocrine Disruptors & Your Home: What to Swap for a Healthier Family
    Mar 26 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Why Your Home Might Be Quietly Poisoning Your Family (And What to Swap)

If you've ever looked at a plastic container, a cutting board, or your child's bedding and wondered, is this actually safe? — this episode is for you.

Inspired by the Netflix series Plastic Detox, today Giselle dives into the world of microplastics and endocrine disruptors, chemicals hiding in everyday household items that have been found in human blood, placentas, and even breast milk.

The science is clear: these chemicals are linked to hormonal imbalances, declining fertility, disrupted sleep, and mood, and children are the most vulnerable because their bodies are still developing.

But here's the truth: you don't need to remove 100% of toxins. You just need to reduce them — and you can get to 70, 80, even 85% with simple, affordable swaps.

    In this episode you'll learn:

    • Why microplastics are more dangerous than most people realise — and where they're hiding in your home
    • The link between endocrine disruptors, estrogen mimicry, and hormonal health
    • Simple swaps for your kitchen: plastic containers → glass, plastic cutting boards → bamboo or wood, heating food in plastic → ceramic bowls
    • Why 80% of children's clothes are made of polyester — and what to choose instead
    • How to create a healthier sleep environment: sheets, pillowcases, duvets, and mattresses
    • Why your family's eating and drinking items matter more than you think

Because it is not about perfection. It is about one conscious thought at a time.
