    Jan 11 2021

I have a fair idea about how LinkedIn works, but expert Karen Tisdell takes that knowledge to the next level.

Karen comes from a recruitment background and was an early convert to LinkedIn, going on to base a successful business around it.

She now earns a living as a LinkedIn profile writer, trainer and speaker. Who better to give the low down on how to use this platform to find a job?

If you are on the hunt for work add this interview to your 'must listen' list, and have a notebook at hand for all of the detailed tips and tricks.

  • S1, E9: Come fly with me...but if you can't, will you give me a job?
    Dec 2 2020

This latest episode features Qantas pilot turned small business owner Matt Harper, and a very honest conversation about the challenges he faced trying to find a job when the airline industry had been grounded.

What do you do when you can't work in a job you have dreamt about and worked hard to get into since you were a kid, and no-one is willing to see you working as anything else?

This is a story about transferable skills, backing yourself and falling back on those traits of determination that got Matt to the pinnacle of his career in the first place.

We also talk about the importance of a support crew and exercise, with some tips for other jobseekers and employers.

To support Matt and David and their families, visit their business https://automatehome.com.au/

In this episode of Joining the Job Queue I chat to nutritionist and life coach Sonya Reynolds.

Sonya explains why eating well is critical to maintaining well-being and managing stress while we're on the hunt for work. We talk about the key foods we should - and shouldn't - be eating and yes, we are allowed to have some chocolate!

We also talk about shopping on a reduced budget, self care and vitamin supplements. And, she shares one of her easy and healthy recipes with us (see below).

    Macadamia Strawberry Smoothie (serves one)

    Ingredients

    1⁄2 cup Coconut Water

    1⁄2 cup Coconut Milk

    1⁄2 Avocado

  • S1, E5: If COVID means a change of direction, where do you start?
    Oct 13 2020

For many of us, COVID has led to a change of direction. Either because we've had to - in the case of our job or industry being impacted, or because we want to, as the pandemic has slowed down our lives to allow our dreams to come to the fore.

Maybe, like me, you've been thinking about making a change for a while but the timing was never right. Until the decision is taken out of your hands!

I had already been working with an executive coach, Jane Counsel, to work out my next move, and she has agreed to share some of the guidance she has provided to me.

Jane is a coach with Executive Central and has coached CEOS and senior execs in ASX-listed top companies, the public sector and not-for-profits. She is also a thought leader in the area of diversity and inclusion.

    Here are Jane's contact details:
