With the focus turned toward next year in so many ways, David and Dan were pleased overall with much of what they saw in this Minnesota Twins series split with the (Los Angeles) Angels in Anaheim. David is trying to tamp down his optimism about 2027, given what he has seen from players like Walker Jenkins and Emmanuel Rodriguez. He's not sure, though, how exactly they will end up in the same lineup as Byron Buxton. Dan has questions about the back end of the bullpen after a couple more implosions, though he is confident about the starting rotation. Hoges joins Dan to discuss the Twins' slow burn toward the end of the season, which included a win-one-in-three series against the New York Yankees at Target Field. The Minnesota Twins drop 2 of 3 to the Cleveland Guardians at Target Field. The guys are disappointed in the Twins showing, but they couldn't hide their glee at the Vikings victory over the Packers. Dan is wondering if he should be nervous about Joe Ryan's rocky return from injury, but David tries his best to calm his fears. Dan and Hoges are hanging onto the smallest bit of hope now after the Twins lost two of three in Detroit to the Tigers. Hoges, filling in for David, still needs to see the Minnesota Twins lose to the Cleveland Guardians to truly let go of any playoff hopes, even though his heart gave up after Game 1 of this series. Dan is already looking toward the offseason, but he's wondering whether Walker Jenkins is going to produce better next year than he has so far. It might be the end ... but maybe it's not the end. It's been hard to tell just when, exactly, the Minnesota Twins season is or will be over from a playoff hopes standpoint. Surely, though, losing two out of three to the Chicago White Sox did not help their cause. David and Dan discuss how much hope they should have left and when we should be turning focus to how what remains of this season could affect the 2027 season. David is looking at Ryan Jeffers and sees a lot of senioritis; Dan is asking whether it's time to shut down Byron Buxton and the other veterans. There is less than a month of the regular season remaining and the Minnesota Twins continue to tread water along the edge of the wild card following a series win over the Detroit Tigers. Both David and Dan lament the Game 3 loss and all the chances the Twins had to win it before the Tigers did.
