  • Anna Morley - Style Editor Editor at Real Homes magazine
    Jan 7 2021

Our first interview of 2021 is with the amazingly brilliant: -

Anna Morley - Style Editor at Real Homes Magazine

Anna was a photographer realising her passion for publishing following a spell at photo agency ZUMA Press in LA, and Weber Shandwick in Scotland, and then 'procured', shall we say, a role as Picture Editor at Thomson Reuters, before moving on to Hubert Burda Media and Centaur Media Plc, (fitting in some freelance in between) before settling at Future's Real Homes magazine as Style Editor.

This interview has some great tips and tricks for Interiors PRs who want to gain coverage, and we go a bit more into Anna than we have done with other Editors previously.

Definitely a must for PRs, probably even for people wanting to become Editors - thanks Anna for agreeing to give us this great interview!

Kudos to John Lewis & Partners, Matalan, George at Asda Home, Wilko, Dunelm, Argos Home, Habitat and MADE.COM mentioned for their great content.

So welcome to Media Hotshots, a podcast series dedicated to the role of Editors of Fashion, Beauty and interiors whether that’s in magazines or those sections within the mainstream media.

If you’re a PR for a Fashion, Beauty or interiors brand, this series aims to help you gain coverage within the titles that each editor is from by hopefully giving you some real golden nuggets of information, whilst also celebrating the lives of these amazing Editors.

And the way that we’ll do that, is by delving into, within each interview

    • The demographic breakdowns of each title
    • The Editorial structure of each of those departments
    • Each of the Editor’s creative structures and processes
    • Their Top 3 PR pet hates
    • As well as their top 3 PR loves
    • Things that you can do to influence, inspire and get noticed by the Editors and therefore gain coverage
    • Their Lead time

...and many more things, all whilst getting to know each Editor and their personalities, understanding what they need to hopefully make all of our lives easier.

Now (I don’t want to labour this), however the idea for the interview series came about at the very beginning of lockdown, back in March when we were inundated with requests from Editors imploring brands and PRs to keep uploading images onto the PRShots platform, so that their magazines could keep on producing their pages. Therefore you’ll notice references to PressArea and PRShots, and this is not an attempt at a shameless plug, it was initially intended just for our clients, however as the majority of the advice given is applicable to PRs regardless of whether you use our platforms or not - it was suggested we put this out for everyone. But just to make sure - we’ve made it clear in the chapters which parts of the interview relate to our platforms so you can skip over these little bits if you want.

So I hope you enjoy the series, I’m keen to hear feedback so if you do like the interviews please subscribe and rate and review the podcast, and if you send me a screenshot of your review I’ll send you a pdf containing all of the best practice advice given by all of the Editors in the series, as well as a whole lot more. You’ll also be entered into the prize draw to win one of two £50 Amazon vouchers

    And send it to info@prshots.com

    Good luck and enjoy
