  • S6E1 - The Search for Endo Biomarkers Using Urine with Barbara Guinn

    Welcome to our 'Endo Research Unveiled: Seeking Answers' series on Not Defined by Endo Podcast.

    Today’s conversation is with Dr Barbara Guinn, a Reader in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Hull.

    As well as teaching the undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in the Centre for Biomedicine, Hull York Medical School, Barbara also supervises MSc, MD and PhD students in their research. Barbara read Genetics at Aberystwyth University and received a PhD in Medicine from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff.

    Following 4.5 years working at the University of Toronto in the Department of Immunology, Barbara set up her own research group in the Department of Haematological Medicine at King’s College London to identify new targets for the treatment of acute leukaemia. Barbara worked on the development of DNA vaccines to treat leukaemia at the University of Southampton and then started to work on ovarian cancer. In 2016 Barbara joined the University of Hull and began her work on developing new treatments for endometriosis and a urine test for endometriosis called EndoTect.
