And this happens in the workplace, it can also happen in churches, in politics and other places. When this happens though the older and presumably wiser people often tell us to wait our turn and that we're too young to handle these responsibilities.

Does history and the bible say this? Do they also insinuate that young people should wait and not make any waves because we're too young? Or do they show by precept and example that youth have what it takes to lead?

It's the holiday season once again and just about everyone's rushing around looking for gifts, decorating the house, putting up the tree, and listening almost daily to Christmas music.

This season is full of excitement for some, stress for others, and even dread for a few.

For many Christians though, this time is a reminder of the Christ who came to save us from our sins.

And the fact that Christmas is becoming more about gifts, seeing family and friends, and having a good time than about the Christ who came to save us, is causing some to be distressed thinking that this shift is a sign of secular culture subverting Christianity.

Is this actually true? Does history and the bible point to the secularization of Christmas as an attack on Christian values or Christianity in general?

The midterm elections just ended recently, and one of the main concerns that voters had going into it was the fact that this country is in its worst period of inflation in the past 40 years.

The rising costs and subsequent financial insecurity have left many Americans convinced that something needs to change.

Recently, the Biden-Harris administration unveiled a student loan debt forgiveness program. Some people were pleased saying that the government should lend a helping hand to its citizens. Others were appalled, claiming that this policy is forcing people to pay for other people's bad choices making it unfair and encouraging laziness.

Welcome to another episode of the One Voice: Nothing New Under The Sun podcast. Recently, because of worsening conditions in the workplace, workers, especially the younger ones, are engaging in what experts have dubbed, quiet quitting.

This refers to workers doing only the bare minimum that their job requires and not going above and beyond for their employer.

Proponents of this course of action point to the lack of support or even humanity shown by employers as justification for not doing their best. And to the slim possibilities of being rewarded with anything meaningful for outstanding work.

While opponents make the argument that in order for promotion and to receive respect on the job, workers need to do their best at all times.

Which stance does the bible and history support?

A few weeks ago, there was a big scandal in the news about migrants being sent to Martha's vineyard. Some applauded this action, others were horrified.

But it got me thinking about the larger questions regarding migrants in this country. Should we let in all who want in? Should we try to keep as many out as possible? What about the undocumented ones do they deserve jail or even deportation?

On which side of the issue does history and the bible stand?

In this episode of the One Voice: Nothing New Under The Sun podcast, we take a look at the concept that America should become more christian in its legislation. We first look at what has happened every time a religion controlled the law making of a state. Then we look at what the Word of God says about this topic. Finally we determine how Christian politicians can show their faith through their office. 

In this episode of the podcast, we breakdown the different publicly proposed solutions to the problem of public mass shootings in America. We then examine those solutions through the lens of the bible and history to determine whether or not they are viable. After that we take a look at what the root cause of the problem is, before finally detailing what we as christian young people can do about it personally.
