  • Tricks, Treats, and Tribulations: Part 1
    Oct 26 2026

In this episode, Roger and Phillip celebrate Halloween in the 1970's and 1980's! They share favorite costumes and Halloweeen TV Specials, and a real-life scare freaked Philip out big time! Plus, Roger waited too long to pick up a costume, ran out of ideas, and had to make something up that may (or may not) have been ingenious!

    Stay tuned for part 2.

  • A Halloween Special Episode - Ol' Buckethead
    Oct 23 2026

This is an experimental episode of Poor Boy's Banter. I've always wanted to produce an audio drama of some sort so I took an adaptation of an old folklore tale I wrote a few years ago and whipped up a podcast episode.

Halloween is Roger's favorite time of year so we wanted to do something a little special. If you like it, let us know with a comment on our YouTube channel. Please check out our other episodes, including two other Halloween episodes where we talk about vintage Halloween memories of the 1970's and 80's. They will be coming out shortly before or shortly after this one is released.

Remember, don't whistle at night and keep those Jack-O-Lanterns lit until at least midnight on Haloween night!

  • BMX Hijinks: Death Defying Stunts!
    Oct 16 2026

In this episode, we talk about one of our favorite pasttimes as kids...riding our bikes. But, not just riding...jumping, racing, flipping, wheelies, and more jumping! It truly is amazing that we didn't die at times, or at least mame ourselves.

  • Gridiron Grudge Match: We Got a New Madden
    Aug 19 2026

This episode is all about football! We discuss some of our old toys and collectibles from our childhood...the plastic collectible NFL helmets found in 25 cent vending machines, NFL team pencils, helmet magnets found in potato chip bags, and the rarely intact NFL Action Team Mate action figure (those things are usually in pieces nowadays thanks to rotten rubber bands...but I rebuilt mine!).

PLUS: We talk Madden video games since it's that time of year when the new iteration is released. We play a game of a particular Madden that we haven't played before, a PS2 version that we have hit with some technical magic to make it look better than anyone thought it could! And it's still fun!

  • Pint-Sized Vacations
    Jul 27 2026

In this episode, we talk about some vacations we took while kids. We briefly visit Tweetsie Railroad (and talk about Phillip

s dad overcoming his fear of heights), pre-Dollywood Silver Dollar City (and the beloved Flooded Mine Ride - RIP), and the Land of Oz (this Dorothy came from North Carolina, not Kansas). Also, Roger's dad introduces Roger and Phillip to the wonderful deliciousness of the Arby's Ham and Swiss breakfast croissant from back-in-the-day.

  • Rabbit Ears Be Gone!
    Jun 28 2026

In this episode, we talk about the day we got cable TV. The cable guy did not have great social skills, but neither did Roger. Plus, we mention Godzilla, Skinemax, (uh, I mean Cinemax), Benny Hill, the drawbacks of antenna TV, Roger changing channels with the power of his voice, recording Johnny Carson and Saturday Night Live, and lots of other things...we were all over the place in this episode.

  • My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad!
    Jun 21 2026

In this episode, we honor our fathers for Father's Day. Both of our fathers have passed but we wanted to celebrate them with some stories that respect their memory and pay deserved reverence for the men that they were.

We discuss our dads' ability and willingness to address function over form, their ingenuity and engineering skill, and being good role models. Included: One dad defies convention by selling Avon while the other addresses our tendency to "sport cuss" at a young age with a restrained act of behavior modification that made it's point without a single word being spoken.
