Sensei Dymond has trained with Hanshi Gary Legacy, and has paved the way for many Legacy Shorin Ryu students over his lifetime, including Sensei Daniel Whittal and Sensei Randy Dauphin. Notably, in 2006, he visited and trained in Okinawa at the dojo of Ikihara Sensei. He is also a published author of 5 books. His memoir “It’s just about me: 23 Dover Street” reflects his early days from Chatham, Ontario, Canada where he grew up in a post war environment with a sister and two half-brothers. He and his sister, Margo, were among the many young victims of this war having lost their father in its closing days. These days, Sensei Dymond enjoys golf, Tai Chi, working out, and watching movies. He continues to train Karate, and says he’s too old to quit.

He has taught classes in local schools and businesses and is a trainer for women’s self defense programs.In addition, Sensei Yanke is a Former President of the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Association and World Council of Jiujitsu Organizations, holds a 1st dan in judo, and is an inductee in the Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Hall of Fame.

As a student of Budo since 1984, Sensei Velilla is a U.S. Army Veteran who has completed Post-Graduate programs in Japanese Studies at Sophia University in Tokyo and Advanced Public Policy at Old Dominion University in Virginia. For several years he administered International Military Education and Training to the Japanese Self Defense Forces as part of the Department of the Army Security Assistance Program. He has competed and placed in various Budo Arts in both the U.S. and in Japan. In 2023 Sabastian Sensei was nominated for the Japan Foundation Award and in 2024 received the Korosho award from the Kokusai Budoin (IMAF JAPAN) for meritorious service to Budo. He is dedicated to protecting, preserving and expanding traditional Japanese martial arts (Budo) and Japanese Fine Arts (Bijutsu) while fostering well-disciplined and capable individuals through participation in physical, mental and spiritual training.
