• EP 94// How to Handle Sibling Competition & Still Be a Team | Raising High-Performance Athletes (with Trent & Lindy Sharon)
    Oct 6 2026

How do you raise highly competitive kids who want to win—but still genuinely root for each other?

In this episode we continue our series: The Good, The Hard, and The Holy Work of Raising High-Performance Athletes. Chase and I sit down with Trent and Lindy Sharon, who have raised five incredibly competitive boys in a family where rodeo, wrestling, ranch work, faith, and a whole lot of time together have shaped the way they approach parenting.

We talk about raising competitive kids without letting comparison take over, teaching work ethic and accountability, and helping siblings understand that even when they’re competing against each other, they’re still on the same team.

Trent and Lindy share some really practical things they’ve done along the way—from making their boys responsible for their own rodeo entry fees, to their “two and three” conversation after every competition, to teaching them how to celebrate a brother’s success.

But this conversation goes deeper than raising successful athletes. We talk about prioritizing marriage in the middle of a busy rodeo family, expecting our kids to do hard things, giving them room to learn from failure, and building a faith that becomes their own—not just something they inherit from us.

Because raising high-performance athletes isn’t only about preparing them to compete. It’s about raising kids who know how to work, how to lose, how to win, and how to love each other well along the way.

    Let's elevate our game!🔥

  • EP 93// Are You Pushing Too Hard? Raising High-Performance Athletes Without Making It All About Performance (with Charlie and Lorissa Kingsbury)
    Sep 29 2026

Part of The Good, The Hard & The Holy: Raising High-Performance Athletes series.

How do we raise driven, competitive kids, push them toward excellence, and still make sure they know their worth has NOTHING to do with how they perform?

If you’re parenting a high-performance athlete, you’ve probably wrestled with where encouragement ends and pressure begins. How hard do we push? When do we step back? And how do we coach our kids through the wins, losses and hard days without letting their performance determine the atmosphere in our home?

Charlie and Lorissa Kingsbury are back with Chase and I for such a real conversation about parenting high-performance athletes. We talk about coming alongside our kids instead of controlling them, creating a Kingdom atmosphere at home, handling performance pressure, protecting the relationship, and making sure our kids know we are always on their team.

This isn’t about lowering the standard or taking away their drive. It’s about raising confident, resilient athletes who know who they are, Whose they are, and that their value will NEVER be determined by a scoreboard, a time, a run or an outcome.

If you’re raising a competitive athlete and trying to figure out the good, the hard and the Holy work of helping them chase big dreams without making their life one big performance—this conversation is for you.

    Let's elevate our game!🔥

  • EP 92//Raising High-Performance Athletes: The Good, the Hard & the Holy Work of Parenting
    Sep 22 2026

Raising high-performance athletes is GOOD. Watching our kids dream big, work hard, handle pressure, and chase the gifts God has given them is one of the greatest parts of parenting.

But man… it can be so hard too. How much do we push? When do we back off? How do we teach discipline, resilience, and a strong competitive mindset without making performance their identity?

In this episode, I’m kicking off a brand-new series on raising high-performance athletes—the good, the hard, and the holy work of parenting. We’re talking about supporting big dreams, navigating pressure and disappointment, knowing when to coach and when to just be Mom or Dad, and learning to want success FOR our kids without needing performance FROM them. And most importantly, how do we keep faith and the Kingdom at the center of it all?Over the next few weeks, I’m sitting down with parents who are right in the middle of this too—having honest conversations about what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what God is teaching us along the way.

If you’re raising a driven, competitive kid with big dreams, you’re not going to want to miss this series!

Let’s figure out the good, the hard, and the holy work of raising high-performance athletes together. 🔥

  • EP 91// Learn How To Fall In Love With The Process and NOT Just Love the Outcome (with Charlie and Lorissa Kingsbury)
    Sep 15 2026

What if working harder isn’t always the answer? You can put in the reps, ride the horses, do the training and chase the big goals—but if your confidence, identity and love for the sport are tied only to the outcome, the process can get pretty miserable.

In this episode, Charlie and Lorissa Kingsbury join us for such a good conversation about learning how to fall in love with the process.

We talk rodeo mindset, hard work, resilience, comparison, handling failure, and learning to keep the main thing the main thing. Charlie gets really honest about becoming so results-driven that even winning wasn’t enough, while Lorissa shares why some of our greatest growth comes through the hard seasons.

Whether you’re a rodeo athlete, competitor, coach or parent, this episode is about working hard, building confidence and mental toughness, surrounding yourself with the right people, and trusting God with the results.

    Let's elevate your game!🔥

  • EP//90 How Do I Find My Purpose? Faith, Rodeo, and Using the Gifts God Gave You (with Andy Taylor)
    Sep 8 2026

Have you ever wondered what your purpose is—or how your rodeo, your gifts, and the things you’re passionate about fit into God’s plan for your life?

I hear this question from young rodeo athletes all the time, and it’s one I’ve wrestled with myself. In this episode, I sit down with one of my spiritual mentors, Andy Taylor, to talk about purpose, identity, faith, and why understanding who you are changes the way you approach your performance, the pressure, the hard seasons, and everything in between.

Andy has such a gift for making the things we tend to overcomplicate feel simple. We talk about developing the gifts God gave you, why your purpose has to go beyond rodeo, and how the arena can become a place where God uses your life to impact somebody else. If you’re chasing big goals but also want to keep God at the center of it all, this conversation is for you.

Your gifts matter. Your story matters. And your arena just might be where God is calling you to do Kingdom work.

    Let's elevate your game!🔥

  • EP 89//Putting Boundaries on Your Life: The Discipline it Takes to Become a World Champion (with Cody Custer)
    Sep 1 2026

What does it really take to become a World Champion?

According to World Champion bull rider Cody Custer, talent will only take you so far. In this episode of Ride Rope Rodeo, Cody and I talk about the discipline, work ethic, sacrifice, and boundaries it takes to compete at the highest level in rodeo.

From choosing the right people to influence you, to doing the work when you don’t feel like it, Cody shares why the choices you make outside the arena have a direct impact on your confidence, mindset, and performance inside it.

But this conversation goes deeper than rodeo. Cody shares honestly about his faith, the highs and lows of his bull riding career, the hard seasons of his life, and what he learned when he stepped outside some of the boundaries that had once kept him grounded. Whether your goal is a World Championship or simply becoming the best athlete and person you can be, this episode is a powerful reminder: winning takes more than talent. It takes discipline—and a willingness to protect what matters most.

  • EP 88// Learn From the Best: The Training & Mindset Behind Rodeo Success (with Cason Kingsbury)
    Aug 25 2026

What happens when you stop trying to figure it all out on your own and intentionally put yourself around people who can help you elevate your game?

This week on Ride Rope Rodeo, I sit down with Cason Kingsbury, who didn’t start roping until he was 17—and five years later, he’s competing on the PRCA rodeo trail. In this episode, we talk about the work behind that climb: running hundreds of calves, riding countless horses, learning from world champions, getting beat, showing back up, and developing the mindset to keep going.

We dig into training, performance, mindset, horsemanship, work ethic, and coachability—and why the people you allow to influence you can play such a huge role in your game.

Because getting better isn’t just about working harder. It’s about getting around the right people, staying coachable, and being willing to do the work.

If you've ever wondered what separates the good athletes from the great ones... this episode is for you.

  • EP 87// Why Talent Isn't Enough: How Preparation Separates Great Rodeo Athletes (with Chase Johnston)
    Aug 18 2026

Talent is a gift. But at some point, talent isn’t going to be enough.

As you move forward in rodeo, the competition gets tougher. Everybody can rope. Everybody can ride. Everybody has talent. So what starts to separate the good athletes from the great ones? A whole lot of it comes down to preparation.

In this episode, Chase and I sit down and talk about what real preparation looks like—from your training, consistency and horsemanship to studying your craft, paying attention to the smallest details and developing a mindset that can handle pressure when it’s time to compete.

Because better performance doesn’t just happen when the pressure is on. It’s built in the practice pen, at the barn, in the little decisions nobody sees and in the work you’re willing to keep doing over and over again.

If you want to compete at the next level, don’t just rely on your talent. Learn to prepare for where you want to go.
