Welcome to Settle and Source Sourel, a sacred listening space for women who are ready to rise from the heaviness they have carried and return to the wisdom within.

Each episode is a Sourel, a short voiced transmission set to sound, created from the work of Angela M. Carter, founder of Trauma Release Centre. A Sourel is a bridge between the nervous system and the soul, between survival and source, between the woman who has been holding everything together and the deeper feminine wisdom that has been waiting beneath the noise.

These reflections are created for the woman who may have felt buried beneath old patterns, silenced by fear, dimmed by exhaustion, or held back by energies that were never truly hers to carry. Through words, sound and sacred presence, each Sourel offers an invitation to soften, awaken and begin moving out of the darkness that has kept her disconnected from her own light.

The divine feminine is woven through every Sourel as nurture, protection, intuition, truth, creation and inner knowing. These are feminine light codes for the woman who is ready to remember herself. Not as something to force. Not as something to perform. But as something that may begin to rise from within when the system feels safe enough to listen.

Every Sourel carries Angela’s words, Angela’s message and Angela’s thirty years of clinical and spiritual practice. Her work brings together trauma-informed therapy, Internal Family Systems, nervous system wisdom, somatic awareness and the sacred understanding that healing is not only about recovery. It is also about return.

The voice is delivered by an assistant on Angela’s behalf, allowing her work to reach more women while honouring the very message she teaches, that women do not need to burn themselves out in order to serve, create, love or lead.

A Sourel does not tell a woman who she is. It does not tell her what she must become. It opens a doorway. It offers a frequency. It creates a bridge back to the source within her.

Settle in. Let the sound meet you gently. Let the light find what has been hidden. This is where the remembering begins.

  • The Girl Who Thought It Was Her Fault

The Girl Who Thought It Was Her Fault is the third Sourel in October’s theme, What Was Never Yours.

This episode turns gently towards the younger place inside a woman that may still believe she was the reason love became distant, care became uncertain, or something painful happened around her.

The Girl Who Thought It Was Her Fault is for the woman who learned too early to make herself responsible for things that were never hers to carry. The mood in the room. The silence after conflict. The sadness of a parent. The anger of someone bigger. The absence of protection. The feeling that love could vanish without warning.

This Sourel explores how shame can enter the body not as truth, but as a child’s attempt to make sense of pain. If it is my fault, maybe I can fix it. If it is my fault, maybe I can become better, quieter, easier, brighter, more helpful, less needy. If it is my fault, maybe love will come back.

This reflection does not correct the younger part harshly. It sits beside her. It lets her know that she was not foolish for blaming herself. She was trying to survive inside something too large for her. She was trying to hold on to connection. She was trying to find a way to feel some control in a world where she did not yet have power.

The Girl Who Thought It Was Her Fault offers the words she may not have been able to hear then: you were a child. You were not responsible for the emotional world of adults. You were not responsible for being easier to love. You were not responsible for making unsafe people safe. You were not responsible for carrying silence, anger, absence or pain that belonged to someone else.

This Sourel closes with a quiet promise to the younger place within: I will not leave you alone with this anymore.

    She was never the problem.

And the fault was never hers.

If you find yourself wanting something to return to between these reflections, in the actual moment a pattern like this one takes hold, I also built an app called Settle and Source. It offers a ninety-second guided practice for exactly the kind of moment this reflection has been describing, the gap between noticing an urge and knowing what to do with it. It is not a replacement for anything here, simply another door, in case it is the right one for you. https://settleandsource.com

  • The Shame That Learned Your Name

The Shame That Learned Your Name is the second Sourel in October’s theme, What Was Never Yours.

This episode turns gently towards the shame that may have become so familiar it began to sound like your own voice. The shame that says you are too much, not enough, difficult, selfish, broken, unlovable, weak, needy or wrong.

The Shame That Learned Your Name is for the woman who has carried old labels as though they were truth. It explores how shame can begin not as identity, but as atmosphere: a look, a silence, a withdrawal of love, a tone of disappointment, or a moment where a child’s need, feeling, body, voice or brightness was not met with enough care.

This Sourel does not shame the shame. It listens beneath it. It asks whether shame may have stayed because it thought it was protecting connection. Whether it kept you small, quiet, careful or good so you would not lose love again.

This reflection offers one sacred question: who were you before that name was given to you?

Maybe you were bright. Maybe curious. Maybe sensitive. Maybe fierce. Maybe loving. Maybe full of life. Maybe simply a girl who needed to be held, seen and protected.

The Shame That Learned Your Name reminds us that shame may have spoken for a long time, but it does not get to define the woman you are becoming.

Somewhere beneath it, your true name is still waiting.

And perhaps it sounds less like blame, and more like light.

  • The Weight That Was Never Yours
    Sep 30 2026

The Weight That Was Never Yours is the opening Sourel in October’s theme, What Was Never Yours.

This episode begins with the heaviness a woman may have carried for so long that it started to feel like part of her. The weight of keeping peace. The weight of being good. The weight of sensing everyone else’s moods before her own. The weight of blame, silence, shame, and the need to be easy to love.

The Weight That Was Never Yours gently opens a sacred pause around the question: is this really mine?

This Sourel is for the woman who may have absorbed someone else’s fear, pain, unhealed story, family pattern or inability to see her clearly. It does not rush release. It does not demand that the burden be put down before the nervous system feels safe. It simply invites a deeper noticing.

Some things were placed on her. Some things moved through the family line. Some things were absorbed before there were words. Some things became heavy because they had to be carried alone.

This reflection offers the possibility that the weight may have been real, but it may not have been hers.

The Weight That Was Never Yours is a gentle beginning to October’s journey: a month of returning what was never yours, so more of your own light can come home.
