  • Faith's Obedience | Teaching Week 2025
    Sep 9 2025

During the first week of September the Presbyterian congregations of Annalong, Kilkeel and Mourne gather together for 6 evenings of Bible teaching, delivered by Rev David Johnston. The text for the week was Hebrews 11, looking at Heroes of the Faith.

On the Tuesday evening David looked at Hebrews 11 v 8-16 (ESV) and the characters of Abraham and Sarah. Through these Heroes Of The Faith we considered together Faith's Obedience. Faith is obedient when it is

    • Grounded in the free and sovereign will of God.
    • Evidenced in the command of God.
    • Sustained by a belief in the providence of God.
    • Attested through its apprehension of the promises of God.
    • Enlarged through its apprehension of the promises of God.

    Sep 10 2025

During the first week of September the Presbyterian congregations of Annalong, Kilkeel and Mourne gather together for 6 evenings of Bible teaching, delivered by Rev David Johnston. The text for the week was Hebrews 11, looking at Heroes of the Faith.

On Wednesday evening our Scripture passage was from Hebrews 11 v 17-19 (ESV) and David led us through the text to consider Faith's Test. Continuing to look at the faith of Abraham, the text presented:

    - The testing that comes with faith.

    - The obedience that proceeds from faith.

    - The reward that is given to faith.

  • Faith's Cost | Teaching Week 2025
    Sep 11 2025

During the first week of September the Presbyterian congregations of Annalong, Kilkeel and Mourne gather together for 6 evenings of Bible teaching, delivered by Rev David Johnston. The text for the week was Hebrews 11, looking at Heroes of the Faith.

Unfortunately we were unable to record the Thursday meeting of our teaching, but on Friday evening we looked at Hebrews 11 v 23-28 (ESV). This section of the chapter considered Faith's Cost, looking at Moses and the story of the Exodus. The cost of faith in God by Moses was seen in

    - the protection Moses was given,

    - the decision that Moses made,

    - the perseverance that Moses learned, and

    - the provision that Moses embraced.

Moses gave up all the pleasures and privileges of the Egyptian court so that he would be faithful to the one true God. He knew he could not serve two masters and instead lived by faith before God Almighty. This faith was commended in Hebrews 11 as Moses recognising the reproach of Christ of greater wealth than all the treasures in Egypt.

  • Faith's Reward | Teaching Week 2025
    Sep 12 2025

During the first week of September the Presbyterian congregations of Annalong, Kilkeel and Mourne gather together for 6 evenings of Bible teaching, delivered by Rev David Johnston. The text for the week was Hebrews 11, looking at Heroes of the Faith.

Sunday evening concluded our teaching week with our consideration of Faith's Reward as seen in Hebrews 11 v 29-40 (ESV). The book of Hebrews is about making a sad story better! This better story is always in Christ. Those spoken of in this chapter of Hebrews are credited as having faith in God, even though they did not see him, nor did they receive what the promise in their lifetime.

So our conclusion of this teaching series, looking at faith's reward, draws our focus to,

    - faith triumphs,

    - faith's trials,

    - faith's trust,

    - faith's testimony, and

    - faith's terminus.

Ultimately we conclude in the great image of being welcomed home by the Saviour who takes us by the hand and leads us into the heavenly kingdom forever as we live by faith him Christ and in him alone.
