What keeps your faith alive when life gets hard?
Sometimes we think we need something new from God—a new answer, a new sign, a new word of encouragement. But what if, sometimes, what we need most is to remember what God has already done?
In this episode of This Way, we walk into Joshua 4, where the Israelites have finally crossed the Jordan River after forty years of wandering. God tells them to gather twelve stones from the river and build a memorial. Why?
Because God's people are forgetful.
Those stones would become a physical reminder for future generations: Let me tell you what God did.
We'll explore what it means to remember God's faithfulness, trust God when life gets difficult, and recognize the ways He has already been present and faithful in our own stories.
We'll also look at the remarkable legacy of Terry Fox, whose Marathon of Hope continues to inspire Canadians decades after his own journey was cut short. His story reminds us that memorials aren't simply about looking backward—they help carry courage, perseverance, and hope forward.
And then we'll sit at another table of remembrance.
Jesus took bread and the cup and said:
"Do this in remembrance of Me."
Israel had stones.
We have a table.
Different memorial.
Same invitation:
Remember.
Maybe you've forgotten an answered prayer.
Maybe you've forgotten how God carried you through a difficult season.
Maybe you've become so focused on today's struggle that you've lost sight of yesterday's faithfulness.
Come walk with me.
Let's slow down.
Let's remember.
And perhaps we'll discover that yesterday's faithfulness is exactly what we need for today's courage.
