Settle down ladies and gentlemen! It's another one of those jam-packed late-80s episodes with plenty of segments to audit and stuff to talk about, not least the mighty gold-encrusted darts legend Bobby George. But before we get to him, here's what else lands on the board:

    - Peter Macann testing rotten railway sleepers and lasering a horse
    - Judith Hann checking for dodgy car repairs
    - Anna Walker eating seaweed on the Isle of Man
    - Howard Stableford drinking brandy and dressing as a cowboy
    - Plus news of the Russian space shuttle, haemophilia, whale murder, and smelly sheep

    Super, smashing, great!

With Europe entering its fifth unprecedented heatwave of the summer and the Strait of Hormuz closed, it feels like fossil fuels are really having a moment in 2026. Long time listeners will know that it has been our dream since the early days of the podcast to get our own oil rig and as the energy companies' profits are absolutely skyrocketing, now seems like the perfect time.
We do probably need to brush up a little bit on our knowledge of the industry before we dive right in, so what better way to do that than with this very special North Sea oil episode of Tomorrow's World from 1972?
Raymond Baxter presents from a very impressive drillship called the Pelican, while William Woollard visits a monstrous floating storage facility in Norway. Meanwhile, Michael Rodd investigates the health effects of oily fish and discovers a whole new way to enjoy coke.

The World Cup's come round again. And England have been eliminated again. So what better way to apply some salve to those wounds than with an episode of Tomorrow's World that features a soccer-themed segment? This one might hold the key to all of us getting rich down the bookies, so be sure to take notes.

Carol Vorderman presents from her stool in the studio, while out in the field we see:

    - Shahnaz Pakravan snuffling truffles in Germany
    - Rebecca Stephens watching some brutal brain surgery in America
    - Howard Stableford playing a computer cop in Camden
    - Monty Don scanning soil samples in Australia

We haven't asked Wayne Rooney what he thought of this episode, but we've got a good idea what he would say...
