Terri Burke is The Immunization Partnership executive director. Some of you may know her from her time as executive director of the ACLU of Texas, a position she held for nearly 13 years. 

Terri had a 32-year career in journalism prior to joining the ACLU of Texas. She held senior editor roles at The Hartford Courant, The Dallas Morning News, the Austin American-Statesman, and the Albuquerque Tribune. She also was editor-in-chief of the Abilene Reporter-News. 

She is a fourth-generation Texan and a Houston native. She has served on the Greater Houston Partnership’s Quality of Place Committee; volunteered with the Sunshine Coalition that worked with state legislators to increase transparency in government; and is a member of the Philosophical Society of Texas. 

Terri studied journalism and political science at The University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Lamar University.

Pasha Morshedi is an aerospace engineer and part-time bar owner in the Houston, Texas, area. We visited with Pasha in early 2021 and talked about the impact of COVID on his business. The human papillomavirus, or HPV, is the topic of our conversation today with Dr. Erich Sturgis.  Dr. Sturgis is a former board chair of The Immunization Partnership and a member of The Immunization Partnership Advisory Board. He is the Brown Foundation Endowed Chair and Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He has devoted much of his academic career to HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer and working to inform and educate the public about the HPV vaccination.

In January 2022, Episcopal Health Foundation released its findings from its 2021 Texas Health Tracking Survey, specifically Adult Texans’ Experiences with the COVID-19 Pandemic. And Elena is with us today to talk about those findings.
