Why are we all so obsessed with murder documentaries?

From binge watching Netflix crime series to falling down endless YouTube rabbit holes, millions of us can’t look away from stories of real-life murder, mystery and the darkest parts of human behaviour.

In this episode of Vexed in the City, I’m diving into the psychology behind our obsession with true crime. We’ll explore the rise of the murder documentary, the ethics of consuming real tragedies as entertainment, what these stories tell us about fear and safety, and why women in particular are often drawn to understanding male violence.

Because when some of the richest people on Earth are looking towards other planets…
