Getting the best jockeys on horses are the key to racing, and Penny Ffitch-heyes tells it all. We interviewed Penny on the last day of racing at Hawthorne Racetrack, in Cicero, Illinos. She is hands on and boots on the ground in the business.

As an agent, Penny has the distinguished honor of representing the leading jockey in Illinois, Alexander Bendezu Rojas. Chicago racing has been very good to her. In England, Penny helped pave the way for women as a Staplechase rider., riding in the Grand National.

Learning the business as a woman, she learned that the best defense is offense. And to be in racing, you need a sence of humor. According to Penny, Arlington Park Racetrack was one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world, but that’s gone now.
