In this episode of the Why Do Christians? podcast, Mark and Pastor Burt sit down with Josh Lewis from Remnant Radio and King’s Fellowship Church in Ada, Oklahoma to tackle a big question: Am I following a false prophet?

Josh walks through what the Bible actually says about prophets and false prophets, starting in the Old Testament with Exodus and Deuteronomy, then into the New Testament’s call to “test the spirits.” Together they unpack the difference between a false prophet who leads people away from God, and a flawed or disqualified leader who might still teach orthodox doctrine but lacks godly character.

They also discuss situations like when people say, “God told me…” and then get it wrong. How should churches handle prophetic words in a healthy, accountable way? The conversation even brushes up against prosperity-style televangelists and what makes some of that teaching a false gospel.
