• You're Loving Your Neighbor Wrong
    Oct 4 2026

You\'re supposed to love your neighbor… but what if you\'re doing it wrong? Listener Dee asked which kind of \"love\" Jesus meant, so Mark, Pastor Burt and Pastor Josh dig in. The command goes all the way back to Leviticus.

Who actually counts as your neighbor? The guys make the case that love starts at home (1 Timothy 5:8), moves to your church family (Galatians 6:10), and then reaches the whole world, Good Samaritan style. Why is it easier to be nice to a waiter than to your own family? Is a packed sports schedule a good reason to skip church? And what does Jesus mean in Matthew 25 by \"the least of these, my brothers\"?

Expect a few spicy takes, some HGTV jokes, and an apology to curling fans.

  • Can You LOSE Your Salvation? With Special Guest: Dr. Sam Storms
    Sep 27 2026

Can you actually lose your salvation? It's a question that keeps a lot of Christians up at night, whether you're new to the faith or have been walking with Jesus for decades. This week, Mark, Pastor Burt and Pastor Josh sit down with Dr. Sam Storms (just call him Sam) to dig in.

Sam argues that a truly born-again believer can't lose their salvation. He says people who walk away may never have had real faith in the first place. We get into the tough stuff: Hebrews 6, the "I never knew you" verses in Matthew 7, the "if-then" verses in Colossians, and even Judas. Sam also shares his "three-legged stool" concept for assurance: Scripture, the fruit of the Spirit and the Spirit's inner witness.

Struggling with sin? Sam says that's actually a good sign. Christians still disagree on this one, but it's a conversation worth having.

  • Can AI Help Me Study The Bible?
    Sep 20 2026

Radio host Mark Dickey has a bone to pick with AI — it once handed him a Bible verse in the wrong translation. Pastor Burt Miller isn\'t so quick to write it off, but he\'s got his own horror story: an AI confidently invented a quote from Lee Strobel\'s The Case for Miracles, then cheerfully agreed it was wrong when called out.

In this episode of the Why Do Christians podcast, Mark and Burt dig into what AI is actually good for, and where it falls apart. They talk digital echo chambers, why chatbots fill in gaps with stuff that sounds right, and the AI sermon that “nailed the text” but completely missed the point. Learn why Google is to Bible study, what WebMD is to being an actual doctor.

Spoiler: the printing press was supposed to make us dumb too. Go to church, ask hard questions, and don\'t panic.

  • Does God Cause Natural Disasters?
    Sep 13 2026

When hurricanes, earthquakes, and wildfires hit, is God behind it—or just watching it happen? In this episode of the Why Do Christians podcast, Mark, Pastor Burt, and Pastor Josh tackle one of the most frequently asked questions of believers and skeptics: Does God cause natural disasters?

They walk through biblical examples like the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, Jonah’s storm, and Jesus’ words in Luke 13, wrestling with God’s judgment, Satan’s activity, and a broken creation. Along the way they unpack what it means for God to allow vs cause suffering, why we can’t claim a specific disaster is punishment for certain people, and how Jesus redirects the question back to our own hearts and need for repentance.

If you’ve ever wondered why “good people” get hurt, why “bad people” seem to prosper, or where God is when tragedy hits, this conversation is for you.

  • Do "Bad" People Go To Heaven?
    Aug 30 2026

Ever wondered if “being a good person” is really enough to get you into Heaven? In this episode of the Why Do Christians podcast, Mark Dickey and Pastor Burt Miller tackle one of the most uncomfortable questions in Christianity: Are there really a lot of “good” people going to Hell?

They break down why the Bible says no one is truly good, why our “good deeds” can’t erase our sin, and what Jesus actually requires in John 6. They unpack the thief on the cross, the parable of the workers in the vineyard, and how grace flips our ideas of fairness upside down. Plus, Pastor Burt explains why following Jesus isn’t about earning points with God, but about a transformed life that flows from love.

  • Does God Care If I'm Legally Married? (With Special Guest: Josh Bell)
    Aug 23 2026

Can you be “married before God” without involving the government? In this episode of Why Do Christians, Mark Dickey sits down with Pastor Burt Miller and Special Guest Pastor Josh Bell to unpack why Christians have both a church wedding and a legal marriage license.

They dive into what the Bible says about marriage as part of God’s design for creation, why it’s more than just a private spiritual moment. Also how legal marriage actually protects families, finances, and future kids. The guys also tackle questions about non‑Christian marriages, vow renewals after coming to faith, and whether a church‑only wedding (with no paperwork) “counts.”

If you’ve ever wondered where faith ends and government begins when it comes to saying “I do,” this conversation is for you.

  • Signs of a False Prophet (With Special Guest: Josh Lewis)
    Aug 16 2026

What exactly is a “false prophet,” and how can you tell if you’re following one? In this episode of the Why Do Christians podcast, Mark and Pastor Burt sit down again with Josh Lewis from Remnant Radio for Part 2 of their conversation on spiritual discernment.

They dig into practical red flags: leaders who play the “Thus sayeth the Lord” trump card to shut down questions, pyramid-style authority structures where the “man of God” can’t be challenged, and Bible teaching built on wild, over‑spiritualized interpretations no one in church history has ever held.

Josh also unpacks why character and the fruit of the Spirit matter more than charisma, and Pastor Burt shares a personal story of getting pulled into a cult‑like ministry. Finally, they offer pastoral guidance on what to do if you realize you may be in an unhealthy church—when to confront, when to leave, and how to guard your heart going forward.

  • Am I Following A False Prophet? (With Special Guest: Josh Lewis)
    Aug 9 2026

In this episode of the Why Do Christians? podcast, Mark and Pastor Burt sit down with Josh Lewis from Remnant Radio and King’s Fellowship Church in Ada, Oklahoma to tackle a big question: Am I following a false prophet?

Josh walks through what the Bible actually says about prophets and false prophets, starting in the Old Testament with Exodus and Deuteronomy, then into the New Testament’s call to “test the spirits.” Together they unpack the difference between a false prophet who leads people away from God, and a flawed or disqualified leader who might still teach orthodox doctrine but lacks godly character.

They also discuss situations like when people say, “God told me…” and then get it wrong. How should churches handle prophetic words in a healthy, accountable way? The conversation even brushes up against prosperity-style televangelists and what makes some of that teaching a false gospel.

Stay tuned—next week they’ll dig into specific warning signs to watch for in pastors and prophets.
