These three sutras are the most important texts for the Chan (Chinese) and Zen (Japanese) Buddhist traditions, though they are very different in character and provenance. The Diamond Sutra (Vajracheddikā Prajña Pārāmitā Sutra in Sanskrit) has the distinction of being 'the earliest complete survival of a dated (11 May 868) printed book’. It was found in the Dunhuang Caves in China in 1900. The title, Diamond Cutter, outlines its purpose, which is to cut through ignorance to attain to perfect wisdom or ultimate reality.

Brand New Ancient Buddhism

Story0
Is it a philosophy pretending to be a religion, or a religion pretending to peddle a philosophy? This is a podcast made by a man who became a Pali scholar (learning to read the language in harsh conditions in Laos and Cambodia) but eventually outgrew the religion, on the basis of a thorough understanding of both its ancient origins and the reality of the role it now plays in the modern world. AR+IO abbreviates the motto "Active Research and Informed Opinion", providing consistent numbering for all of the episodes (AR+IO-001, etc.) hosted by Eisel Mazard across many different podcasts.

Story0
This podcast series discusses Theosophy, which is often defined as the synthesis of science, religion and philosophy. Founded by Helena P. Blavatsky, who notably authored The Secret Doctrine and Isis Unveiled, Theosophy's scope is almost as astounding as the study's profound insights and wisdom. One small subject at a time, readings of Blavatsky and William Q. Judge are heard. One's own contemplation of the individual subjects presented, is bound to inform more than simply the moment.
