The six works of ancient Chinese philosophy in this volume are the product of four great philosophers: Confucius, Lao Tzu, Sun Tzu, and Mencius. The men who produced these profound writings all lived between the 8th and 3rd centuries B.C.

Philosophy of Mind is the third and final part of the Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences, the collection in which Hegel (1730-1831) offered an overview of his life’s work. Though originally written in 1817, he revised it in 1830, thus providing a finished form the year before his death. Hegel used the three parts of the Encyclopaedia - Science of Logic, Philosophy of Nature and Philosophy of Mind - as a basis for lectures at the Universities of Heidelberg which he joined in 1816, and in Berlin in 1820. 

Musings of a Chinese Mystic is a classic selection from the philosophical writings of Chuang Tzu, a disciple of the great Taoist philosopher Lao Tzu. An important figure in Chinese philosophy, Chuang Tzu helped to bring prominence to the philosophy of Taoism in ancient China. Drawn from the translations of Professor H. A. Giles with an introduction by Lionel Giles, "Musings of a Chinese Mystic" is an excellent introduction to the important Taoist philosophical writings of Chuang Tzu.
