The Iliad is an epic Greek poem written by philosopher Homer, and is considered one of the oldest pieces of western literature still in existence. The story takes place during the last weeks of the 10-year Trojan War, with a focus on the quarrels between King Agamemnon and the legendary warrior Achilles. However, this tale's most famous scene is when the Greek's give a gift to the Trojans of a large wooden horse, but one that is filled with soldiers, that allows the Greeks to infiltrate the high walls of the city of Troy.

A Sand Book is a poetry collection in 12 parts, a travel guide that migrates from wildfires to hurricanes, tweety bird to the president, lust to aridity, desertification to prophecy, and mother to daughter. It explores the negative space of what is happening to language and to consciousness in our strange and desperate times.

„Heimkehr“ entstand von 1823-24: Es geht wieder um Leidenschaft und unglückliche Liebe, aber auch um den Stellenwert solcher „Sentimente“. Das lyrische Ich kehrt nach unbestimmter Zeit in die Stadt am Meer zurück (Lübeck), in der einst sein Liebchen lebte, die nun ausgezogen oder sonst wie ungreifbar ist. Die Stadt ist für ihn nun leer, kalt, unwirklich und voll schmerzlicher Erinnerungen. Das lyrische Ich hat seine Geliebte wohl nur still und heimlich angebetet, ohne es ihr zu gestehen oder seine Liebe zu zeigen. Liebe ist am schönsten als Sehnsucht, als Verlangen und Schmachten, dessen Erfüllung nicht unbedingt erwünscht ist.

Der Taucher ist eine 1797 vom deutschen Dichter Friedrich Schiller im Balladenjahr verfasste Ballade. Sie beschreibt den Wagemut eines Edelknaben, der sich nach Aufforderung seines Königs in einen Gezeitenstrudel stürzt, um einen vom König hinein geworfenen goldenen Becher wieder zu holen. Es gelingt, und er berichtet davon (Es freue sich, wer da atmet im rosichten Licht. / Doch der Mensch versuche die Götter nicht…). Die Hybris des Königs, der es ein zweites Mal sehen will und seine Tochter dafür gebe, steckt auch den Jüngling an, und er versucht es abermals, ohne Wiederkehr.

Die Kindsmörderin ist ein Gedicht von Friedrich Schiller aus dem Jahre 1782. Es handelt von einer schönen jungen Frau, die ihr uneheliches Kind aus Sehnsucht tötet. Entstehung: Das Gedicht wurde in Schillers Anthologie auf das Jahre 1782 abgedruckt, zuvor wurde eines seiner Gedichte, Die Entzückung von Laura, von Gotthold Friedrich Stäudlin im Schwäbischen Musenalmanach auf das Jahr 1782 aufgezeigt. Schiller wollte Stäudlin die Rolle eines Repräsentanten der schwäbischen Poesie nicht kampflos überlassen und veröffentlichte deshalb seine eigene Anthologie.

Sona Van (en realidad: Ter-Hovhannisian) es una famosa poeta y viajera Armenia. Nació en Ereván, Armenia. Su abuelo, un respetado clérigo armenio de la ciudad de Van en Anatolia oriental (de ahí el seudónimo literario del poeta) en el terrible 1915, se quedó en Estambul con una gran parte de su familia. Todos fueron testigos presenciales o incluso víctimas de las atrocidades de las jóvenes milicias turcas.

Il poeta presenta inoltre le sue versioni in italiano di alcune poesie di autori scomparsi nell'Olocausto o scampati ai campi di morte: Henja e Ayala Karmel, Jankiel Wiernik, Paul Celan, anonimi del Ghetto di Kovno e dalla comunità sefardita della Grecia, Wladislaw Szlengel, Tamara Deuel.
