For almost four desperate years between 1939 and 1943, British and American navies fought a savage, losing battle against German submarine wolf packs. The Allies might never have turned the tide of that historic battle without an intelligence coup. The race to break the German U-boat codes is one of the last great untold stories of World War II.

Early in 1968, a nuclear-armed Soviet submarine sank in the waters off Hawaii, hundreds of miles closer to American shores than it should have been. Compelling evidence strongly suggests that the sub sank while attempting to fire a nuclear missile.

Adams, a pioneer of environmental action, was working as a lawyer for the U.S. Attorney's office when he and fellow lawyers teamed up to form a grassroots environmental advocacy group.

In 1917, the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) set foot in Europe, joining the valiant French and British allied forces in the fight for freedom. Acclaimed journalist Heywood Broun accompanied the AEF, capturing their poignant experiences and the challenges they faced. These vivid sketches were later compiled into a compelling book published in 1918.
