Jim, the first mate aboard a small steamer named the Patna, travels from port to port in the Pacific Ocean. This is one of the favorite stories of Jim Corbett himself. The Thak man-eater was a female Bengal tiger who killed and ate four human victims (two women, two men) between September and November 1938. She was operating in Kumaon, at the Nepalese border, between the villages Thak, Chuka, Kot Kindri and Sem. This was the last man-eater killed by Corbett. The tigress was attacking humans initially alone, but later she was assisted by her sub-adult cub. This is a story of a terrible man-eating tigress who had maximum number of preys on her name.

"Lord Jim" is a novel by Joseph Conrad originally published as a serial in "Blackwood's Magazine" from October 1899 to November 1900. An early and primary event is the abandonment of a ship in distress by its crew including the young British seaman Jim. He is publicly censured for this action and the novel follows his later attempts at coming to terms with his past. In 1998, the Modern Library ranked "Lord Jim" #85 on its list of the 100 best English language novels of the 20th century.

The novel is a profound exploration of imitative rivalry and the duality of human consciousness. Told from the point of view of a rich and idle man who is confronted by a rival, the husband of his former, and now deceased, mistress, the story concerns the interchanging hatred and love of the two men.
