Layla loves playing basketball, especially with her best friend, Danika. Die nuwe skooljaar begin nie goed vir Thomas nie. Eers het hy en Hannes ’n nagmerrieondervinding in ’n hyser en dan word hy vir ’n week lank geskors omdat hy die ou drel van ’n Piet Senekal geslaan het. Thomas se pa is so kwaad hieroor, dat hy hom verbied om naby enige rekenaar te kom en hom vir ’n week lank hok! Dit beteken dat Thomas die interhuisdans gaan misloop – sy enigste kans om vir Alex amptelik te vra om sy meisie te wees.

Thomas se hele wereld ruk tot stilstand toe sy meisie, Alex, hom uit die bloute los. Boonop lyk dit of sy beste pel, Hannes, vooraf van alles geweet het. Asof dit nie erg genoeg is nie, maak die skoolhoof, meneer Volschenk, en die twee skoolboelies, Flip en Japie, Thomas se lewe vir hom moeilik. Toe hy in skooltyd wegglip om van die hele spul weg te kom, hoor hy per ongeluk ’n geheime gesprek - twee mans beraam planne om ’n besending onwettige vuurwapens van die hawe tot in die hartjie van Kaapstad te smokkel.

Nadat Thomas laat een aand ’n geheimsinnige gesprek afluister, is hy doodseker sy pa is bang vir iets of iemand. Wie is die geheimsinnige Rus van wie hulle gepraat het? En waarom het Thomas en sy gesin skielik ekstra beskerming nodig?

'n Skooltoer na Namibie saam met al sy pelle. Thomas kan skaars aan iets cooler dink. Dit lyk sowaar of hy hierdie keer by die huis sal moet bly terwyl Hannes, Alex, Lukas en Lilian sonder hom pret het. En boonop hoor Thomas 'n geheimsinnige telefoongesprek - 'n gesprek wat groot moeilikheid vir die toer voorspel.
